Minnesota Sen. Al Franken will resign from the United States Senate "in the coming weeks" he announced Thursday, a day after a number of his Democratic colleagues called for him to step down amid mounting allegations of sexual misconduct against women.
"Today I am announcing that in the coming weeks, I will be resigning as a member of the United States Senate," Franken said on the Senate floor. "It's become clear that I can't both pursue the Ethics Committee process and at the same time remain an effective senator for [the people of Minnesota]."

This is the longest resignation in history? And it may not happen at all. 32 Dem Senator call for him to resign. "Immediately" seemed implied but no Democrats seem to mind he will resign when he wants to. I call BS
The “not yet” resignation.
He won’t resign.
Moore will win.
The, My Dumbass Fugly will say he must remain in order to “fight” those dastardly repubwikans.
He’s lying. Too bad we cant take bets here on FR.
Franken is hanging around until after Moore is elected and is sworn in to the Senate.
He’ll play it as an issue and if he resigns he’ll say how noble he is to do so
but Moore has not ethics, etc. It’s politics as usual in today’s environment.
Oh Al, sweetie, when were you ever an “effective” senator?
I read comments from others here earlier today saying about how it was typical, half assed nonsense from Franken. And that the speech he gave was a pretty pathetic one too.
He’s not going anywhere...
He will resign if he is not reelected.
And the MSM reports Franken resigns . As if this announcement cannot be retracted.
Headline should be he promises to resign someday. Where are the outraged #MEtoo women?
Rush was wrong today Franken hasn’t resigned yet.
Sen. Al Franken says he is sticking around until the coming weeks are over.
I think that he might try that. I also think that he will be forced to resign.
He wants to feel it out in the coming days.
You’re not good enough. You’re not smart enough and doggone it people don’t like you.
Can any woman in this country close her eyes to sleep and feel safe while Al Franken is still free?
He’s waiting to see if Moore wins. If he does, then Franken will say “My resignation will become effective the same day as Roy Moore’s.”
Anybody else also notice that he never said “I’m sorry...”...???
