R.I. (WPRI) Rhode Island is now just 157 residents away from losing one of its two seats in the U.S. House, which would give the state a single vote there for the first time since George Washington was president, according to an analysis of newly released population data.
Kimball Brace, the reapportionment expert who has been involved in drawing legislative and congressional districts in Rhode Island since the early 1980s, ran the numbers Wednesday after the U.S. Census Bureau announced Rhode Island had added about 2,000 residents between July 2016 and July 2017.

Will WVA lose a seat as well?
Maybe we should tell them they are losing it to illegal alien dominated districts in California?
That should explode their heads
There are ranches in Texas that are bigger than Rhode Island, seriously. They need to throw in the towel and be folded into one of those other tiny little northeastern states that wield far too much power.
Minnesota is at serious risk of losing seat in Congress
Wow.
I thought MN was a jobs haven...
Gee, that loss of the state tax deduction will probably encourage more snowbirds, commuters, etc to use lower tax states as their primary residence by the 2020 census, costing another safe Dem seat.
After hearing their dumb idiot congressman speak on the floor yesterday, Id vote with my feet and head southwest.
Under an analysis using a calculator from the University of Michigans Population Studies Research Center, the current population estimates would have the following effect on representation in the 435-seat Congress.
Gain seats:
Colorado +1
Florida +1
North Carolina +1
Oregon +1
Texas +2
Lose seats:
Illinois -1
Michigan -1
Minnesota -1
New York -1
Pennsylvania -1
West Virginia -1
The entire zip code of Rhode Island can squat on a stuffed quahog and eat it.
Meanwhile Pennsylvania has grown and regained the position of 5th largest state despite the best efforts of Tommie (the Commie) Wolf to turn it into a socialist zhit-hole.
We might actually regain the recently lost 19th Congressional District.
Well, the RI libtards better raise taxes to ensure the exodus of the state doesn’t effect their governmental budgets...
Crap, you posted that while I still typing my reply.
There are lovely parts of Rhode Island.
I like the state.
.
PA’s growth is too slow. It’ll lose another seat.
RI’s Congressmembers are both Commie REDS.
Texas will pick up another coupla seats in the next census, I bet.
