The dispatcher also flunked. The 911 call originated from CA, but the caller said he was in KS?
Come on! Why didn’t the dispatcher do a quick cross-reference?
It would have been enough to establish the call as a hoax.
Why do we have 911 anyway?
I don’t get the 911 operator thing either.
E 911 has been around for YEARS——the address automatically comes up.
.
If so, the police officer you spoke with is part of the problem.
My own observations are that, in general, the institutional ignorance, stupidity and bias by police is breathtaking.
Urbandictionary records a definition of “swatting” in 2014.
A [paid, no doubt] leave of absence for the officer?
How about an arrest for murder, along with whoever trained him and neglected to do so properly?
No excuses.

Swatting
Swatting is an internet prank/crime where someone finds your address either through your IP or because your name and location is known. Then they call 911 anonymously and report a fake emergency.Ex,someone can call and say that someone at that address is being held at a gun point or someone is going to commit suicide and a SWAT team would be dispatched to the address.
Its becoming a trend,it is only a matter of time before somebody gets killed.Anyone caught swatting could face serious charges even federal charges for abusive 911 calls, false alarms or reports and then unauthorized use of telecommunications.
I got swatted yesterday by some hacker on the internet.Swatting should be stopped, its not funny.

Some cop kills an unarmed man for opening his door and it’s the swatter’s fault? BS. This is a trigger happy cop. They should both be put in the same cell.
Oops,”oy vey”.
Hard to believe an up-armored cop was threatened by some kid in his underwear.
I was surprised. Maybe he never heard the term? I don’t know. My state is CC without special permit and he was in support of that.
Yeah, he definitely SHOULD know the term or at least the tricks people use.
good summary
To bad officers in Colorado didn’t do some Seal team 6 Tactics, they never know and they are willing to do a job others wont
on very infrequent occasions i will talk with a policeman about the 2nd amendment. the result is usually dismal. my impression is that the police recruit from the bottom of the intellectual barrel. i have confronted on duty policemen pointing out the hypocrisy regarding supporting 2A. they do not challenge my assessment of the situation. so, during stressful situations, the police can be a part of the problem. if so, in those situations, f them.
Yeah could be. Surprisingly, in my state, what with the new laws the few I have spoken with all seem to be in support of it.
Granted, that could just be PR. For awhile, it was carry in the vehicle, but had to display on exit and entrance. Fortunately, they went to complete CC rights.
Still, I avoid certain areas. That doesn’t mean one can’t be surprised, of course.
i am in california (which might explain a lot about where the police come from in regards to 2A, especially the high brass who are typically in my understanding appointed by the local mayor).
My sympathies on several levels.
That being said, I really, really liked SoCal (only part I’ve ever been to) 30 years ago. Liked the Tustin area a lot.
OTOH, coming back from the Long Beach arena 20+ years ago, I took the wrong exit and found myself somewhere (I guess) in downtown Long Beach. Driving a rental car and not sure if it was marked, I stopped at a red light. Seemed to not be a good part of town. So I looked both ways and went. Only time I ever did that, LOL. I was staying in Torrance. BUT I didn’t take the time to go through In-and-Out. Wish I had.
You are talking about the cop right? Should be. A few cases of holding cops criminally culpable goes a long long way.
As I said to someone before, BOTH (though I should have mentioned what you said).
BOTH should be in prison.
Unless I’m mistaken, I believe Navy Patriot is only calling out the scum who perpetrated the “swatting”. That is the man under arrest, if I read the article correctly.
i read some of the comments. amazingly (to me), a few comments are in defense of the shooting police officer.
what i did not read (at least in the several dozen comments that i skimmed so far) is any detailed defense of the victim.
It was 6:18 PM, and the victim’s family members were in the home, when the police arrived. the video does not show events prior to the man being already outside on his porch and commanded by police from 20 yards away behind police cars to “show [his] hands!” Next, a police officer shined a bright light beam towards the suspect. Next, a police officer commanded the victim to “walk this way!” The video is grainy, but to me, the man appears to walk towards forward and towards one side of the porch stairs, where there is a handrail. It is an instinctive reflex when approaching stairs after dark to reach for a handrail when descending stairs. It is absolutely (imho) unnatural to descend stairs with arms raised above one’s head— in fact, i imagine it would be regarded as dangerous by any ordinary person to do so, especially after dark, without being given any preparation or good reason, and having a powerful light beam shone in one’s eyes. If there is ice or water on the stairs, the man could slip on the steps, fall, and break his neck. The policeman giving the victim orders appears to consider none of these safety and human instinct factors.
Did the police even bother to identify themselves as police officers to the victim before barking orders at him? the video published does not show it (though it could have happened).
On the topic of the location of the caller, the area code might not give an accurate location if the phone used is a cell phone.
However, the police training is very obviously deficient— the town police were imho negligent. Hopefully the family sues for wrongful death, and wins.
I was replying to the post where he called the victim an “alleged human”. I didn’t want to quote him because I’m hoping the post gets pulled and there is no record of what NP said.
I think Navy Patriot is calling the perp an “alleged human”.
At least that’s how I read it.
