“So, if one wanted a ‘hit’ accomplished, all that needs to be done is file a serious enough false report with the police and the job is done? Who knew.....”

Yeah and it’s free....don’t have to pay the killer.

You’re right. I made a mistake. I apologize. I’ll have my post deleted. Sorry.

I was replying to the post where he called the victim an “alleged human”.

I believe he was talking about the perp, not the victim.

“It murder aided by poor police work.”

Police are worse than the hoaxer. What kind of blithering homicidal idiots are they hiring these days? My god every other day there are outrages like this and pets.

Both are culpable, for different reasons.

It happens. Owning up to it, though, is a quality (thinking back to a couple of threads a few years ago, LOL).

“The man is a jerk but that doesn’t change the fact that a lot of cops these days are harboring frustrated fantasies of Seal Team 6.”

I wonder just exactly what the victim did to induce being shot? He zipped up his fly and the cop felt threatened? At least he and his family will have a Happy New Year.

“Your talking about the trained adult with the gun, right?”

Yeah, the same ones who can go into all the gun free zones that we can’t.

The dispatcher also flunked. The 911 call originated from CA, but the caller said he was in KS? Come on! Why didn’t the dispatcher do a quick cross-reference? It would have been enough to establish the call as a hoax.<

Actually, all that might establish is where he bought the phone. Since it is the holidays people can be visiting anywhere from anywhere.

Why do we have 911 anyway?

Because it is much easier than memorizing all the emergency response numbers in a given locale. If you're visitng another city and need the police, fire or ambulance response would you prefer having to find out what their number in that town is first? Does that seem like a good idea?

Maybe none of you heard of Number Portability? Sure you can take your number “with” you from one carrier to another, BUT, now you see the down side. “I forgot to change my address, officer, I’ll get on it asap, sir.” For cell phones you provide the E911 address.

Told me he didn’t know people did that. We discussed politics, etc.

Cops don't have time for that. They are busy worrying about sovereign citizens. All 12 of them.

It would have been enough to establish the call as a hoax.

Add to that the fact that he said he was in a one-story house. The address he gave was for a two-story house.

Gross incompetence can't be an excuse for the killing of a man.

But that the cop "felt threatened" can be. It's been a sure bet in court.

Charges against the cop won’t even be filed.

On the topic of the location of the caller, the area code might not give an accurate location if the phone used is a cell phone.

Cell 911 does not use area code or exchange in determining caller location. It is based upon a the cell towe picking up the signals from the device.

ok, thanks for the info. if so, then i would agree with previously posted sentiment to the effect that the 911 operator might also be at fault for not having checked from where the call originated.

I believe Navy Patriot is only calling out the scum who perpetrated the “swatting”.

Well, I am calling him out AND calling him an "alleged human" as he would have show me proof he is.

However I also called the cop that shot the innocent, unarmed, uninvolved bystander at his own front door, an "idiot cop".

Additionally, I noted that a Gamer had paid the Swatter to execute the Swat, highly irresponsible and reckless behavior, probably criminal.

If I were king, the Swatter would get life, the Gamer 10 years, and the Cop would lose his job, be barred from public employment of any kind, and lose his 2A rights for life.

Cell phones will give the dispatcher the phones location. If he called from a land line there are ways to spoof caller ID (yes even the system 911 has). Although there may also be apps that can conceal a cell phones location too.
