You may love chocolate, but you should probably start preparing yourself to say goodbye to it: Scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have predicted that cacao plants are likely to go extinct as early as 2050 due to climate change. But there’s one glimmer hope on the horizon: Mars—the candy company which makes such chocolate treats as the Snickers and the Twix bar—has teamed up with the University of California on a new method that may help save future cacao crops.

It’s been down hill ever since the North Pole completely melted and has been free from ice since 2012.

Er, or so Al Gore told me.*

* Yes, he actually predicted this. Twice.

Wait for it!!!!!

Dark chocolate vs. milk chocolate.

Wonder how soon the liberals will make a ‘racist’ issue of this crisis?

...because when the climate changes, it always changes in such as way as to insure that no areas unsuitable for cacao today can become suitable for it to grow in the future...

“...have predicted that cacao plants are likely to go extinct as early as 2050 due to climate change.”

Not to worry - they also predict that chocolate eaters will go extinct by 2049, due to the sky falling, and the disastrous effects of unchecked continental drift.

This is just to get the female population on board the AGW train..........

They're really threatening men more than women. We'll just lose our chocolate, men could lose much more. Men will be in grave danger... you'll have to put up with us every month with no chocolate to soothe your tigresses.

cripes...do they have to do this every year ?

Chocolate is now grown around the globe—typically within 10° north and south of the equator. The world's leading producers are Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Indonesia. Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana produce over half of the world's chocolate. But research highlighted in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Climate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability report indicates that, under a “business as usual” scenario, those countries will experience a 3.8°F (2.1°C) increase in temperature by 2050, and a marked reduction in suitable cultivation area.

“Lol. I read the other day about Al Gores three beachfront properties. Apparently, he isn’t too concerned about it.”

Leonardo DiCaprio, one of the great Hollywood advocates for carbon taxes, also doesn’t seem to be cutting back on his yacht, multiple houses, or private jet trips. However he is fine with restricting use of fossil fuels by the masses who buy the tickets to his films.
