Trump’s second year starts with the government sputtering to a stop

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump campaigned as the master deal-maker, a guy who could come to Washington, knock a few heads and get the government working again.

But on the anniversary of his inauguration, America awoke to a government shutdown — a dramatic testament to dysfunction, partisan gridlock and failed leadership.

There was a lot at stake: for the public, for House Republicans who fear losing their majority, for Senate Democrats whose incumbents will now have to defend their votes and the shutdown to constituents, and for Trump, whose approval ratings have languished below 40 percent.

Rodell Mollineau, a Democratic strategist and former Senate leadership aide, said his party believes they are on the "right side of history" in defending the DREAMers. He also pointed a finger at Trump for creating a "man-made crisis" by rescinding the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that protected DREAMers.

And, he said, Trump has done nothing to forge relationships with Democrats.

"For all of the talk of Obama not reaching out to Republicans in that first year … he didn’t purposely alienate Republicans in the way that Trump has alienated Democrats," Mollineau said.

What sort of an insane headline for the American sheeple is that? The Fed Gov shuts down every weekend. Last I checked today is Saturday, a normal SHUTDOWN of the FED WORKFORCE.

The old stream media playing right along with the RAT playbook for Nov 2018 elections. Good God, are half this nation really that stupid, and are able to vote???????

Why is it Chucky boys move? He needs to a) stand pat and b) keep the government shut down.

Don’t you see the brilliance here, Chucky boy is doing the work the Republican leaders won’t do.....shut it down. I’m encouraging him to hold firm.

#ShutItDown
#ReleaseTheMemo

Amnesty for 3.6 million.
The popular vote spread in the 2016 election was 2.8 million (in Dem favor) for a wildly horrible candidate.
Do the math…with those numbers the Dems could run a toaster and win- electoral college or not.

Hard to make a deal when one side adopts the position that no deal will be made so that they can whine that deals aren’t being made.

Fake news

Trump will not be slowed by this grandstanding. Government employees will get extra time off with pay. Those representing special interests will get egg on their faces again.

Trump’s second year starts with NBC still not understanding why the people voted for Trump.

...Trump’s second year starts with the government sputtering to a stop...

More accurately, Trump’s second year starts with the Democrats causing government to sputter to a stop.

The Democrats have cornered themselves on immigration. They can’t get out of the #SchumerShutdown without agreeing to what Trump will accept on the wall, chain migration, visa lottery and temporary protected status for Haiti and El Salvador.

Trump holds the better hand politically. I wish McConnell would hold off on any more votes until Trump gets what he wants.

Headline you’ll never see in Democrat media:

President Trump’s Second Year Starts with Economy Booming
WSJ/NBC poll shows 69% satisfied with the economy, 30% dissatisfied.

I personally prefer “crashing to an immediate halt”.

“Sputtering” is so Hussein-esque.

Brett Baier was a Hillary supporter, as were most of the Fake Conservatives on Fox News, where 95% of their campaign contributions went to Hillary’s campaign.

If Mitch’s last press conference is any indication, Mitch is closer to the Democrats than he is to Trump.

I think it was in Dec. 1995 the gov’t shut down for three
weeks or so. And then a winter storm kept it closed a few
more days after they were to return to work.

OEB, as I said on another post, I get tired of seeing lefty propaganda on FR. There’s nothing left to say about this. It’s better left alone.

I just can’t help myself. Leftwing progressive journalists need to be exposed on FR. Not in a Matt Lauer sense, just their ideology.
