Dem Rep. Quigley: "Out Of Context" That McCabe Said No FISA Warrant Without Dossier
RCP Video ^ | 2-5-2018 | Ian Schwartz

Posted on 02/05/2018 2:33:51 PM PST by Sir Napsalot

Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) said Monday that Rep. Devin Nunes worked with the Trump White House to "concoct" the recently unclassified FISA memo and that they had numerous co-conspirators.

When asked if then-FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe told the Intel Committee behind closed doors that if not for the Steele dossier no FISA warrant would have been issued, he said that was taken "out of context" and that those were "not his exact words." He called the dossier "largely accurate."

"This investigation began independently of the dossier and the fact is the dossier is largely accurate," Quigley said on Monday's broadcast of CNN's New Day. "If there's a few minor errors, so be it, but it was raw intelligence data to be begin with."

(snip)

REP. MIKE QUIGLEY (D-IL): It is false. We're not his exact words. Remember, that was classified. That the setting that we're talking about. So I have to be mindful of it. Until our memo comes out, it's hard to contradict exactly what they're saying.

So those were not his exact words. They're cherry picked. They're out of context. As Mr. Dent said, that's true for the entire two and a half page memo. I don't think either memo should have been put out because they release information that shouldn't be out there protecting sources and methods, but now that their report is out there, our memo has to go out there just to correct what they've stated in their short memo.

James Comey told President Trump in December or January of 2016-2017 that the dossier was "salacious and unverified."

Not to take away from the seriousness of your charge, but...

James Comey happens to be a frickin' liar! Once somebody lies to me, it puts everything else that person says in doubt.

I thought the dems never did read the Memo. So, how’s come they are now experts on the whole subject?

Carter Page appears to have worked as an under-cover employee for the FBI in 2013 related to building a case against Evgeny Buryakov. Indications are he likely retained that status through May of 2016. October 21st 2016 Carter Page is alleged to be a Russian agent and put under a FISA Title 1 surveillance, which also covers any contacts and associates. Furthermore, this is retroactive in time.

Using him as a route to justifying previous surveillance on Trumps election organization, sanitizing their extra-judicial spying on a rival presidential political campaign, appears to have been just too convenient and hard to resist.

The question is, is Carter Page still an FBI employee?

So now the dossier is “largely accurate”.

This is from one of the leftists that leave hateful messages on Howie Carr's voicemail:

A half truth is a full lie.

Wouldn’t the dossier taint any other evidence?

How so and so what? FISA warrants are generally not for criminal prosecution anyway. It appears the objective of this warrant was surveillance for surveillance sake, not to roll up a spy ring and not to discover any plot to perpetrate a crime in the US.

1 is fact, 2 is conjecture but goes along with their thinking on 1. Again, it’s declaratory statement and is difficult to take out of context.

Just saw that.

Seems to me theory about Carter Page’s volunteering in Trump campaign as a mole looking more and more likely.

Why was a salacious dossier allowed as justification to spy on Carter Page, who is not named in the dossier? They are obfuscating with stupid little side distractions from the real story.

Actually Comey testified in fall of 17 that it was salacious and unverified after 4 FISC applications had been submitted!

He told Trump the same thing 3 weeks after he applied for the first one.

Please check your time line. When did Comey sign his first FISA warrant application? Was it after Trump was inaugurated? If not, then why would he tell Trump anything?
