It’s worth noting that this disaster was cooked up by the top counter intelligence minds in the FBI

These guys are so stupid it’s frightening

That's the truly frightening takeaway from this affair. These pinheads were in charge, and that was the best plan they could think of. Mitigating factors may have been the need to conceal from underlings - but that shows reliance on staff to come up with and implement decent plans.

The only way to know is to raise the stakes. If Page was a plant, charge him and arrest him. Perp walk very publicly and sequester him for his own protection, charge with crimes that could result in life in prison ( or at least as far as he can see), if the deal was Obama/Hillary had his back that is no longer an option.

Page will turn on his non-benefactors.

I thought it was Manfort. Read: The extent of the Carter Page-Paul Manafort grift is coming into focus - https://newrepublic.com/minutes/142027/extent-carter-page-paul-manafort-grift-coming-focus

They were both heavily involved in the Energy business in Eastern Europe and Russia and I am sure had many contacts together.

He was referred to Corey Lewandowski by Ed Cox, the nephew of Richard Nixon, chairman of the NY GOP party, who knew him from past volunteer work on Republican campaigns and was impressed with his academic credentials and business experience

He was earlier an FBI employee working to entrap Russian spies.

Now just suppose that he was then placed in the Trump organization to trap Trump.

Then suppose after being there for a while, he was impressed with the Trump enthusiasm and goals and decided to switch sides or at the least decided that he would not rat on them.

And for that, the swamp critters charged him with turning on them in the Russian affair, in essence becoming a double agent.

When in fact his real crime as far as the FBI was concerned was to turn on them after joining the Trump campaign?

My guess is that Carter Page would have a very interesting story to tell....except that he is not ready to commit suicide...or to be shot during a “robbery”.

Preposterous tin hat theory?

Our government is infested with people who have done worse and who will do even worse if not removed from office.

“I think they new the warrant application was hogwash, but...rubber stamped it anyway.”

Right on! Any time there is secrecy there is abuse, fraud, corruption.

Who exactly is Manafort? Yes, I know he worked for the president and was fired. Wasn’t he recommended by another Republican?

Maybe Manafort was trapped by the traitor, Carter Page, too. IMO, Page is a triple agent.

Thats because despite his background and resume, he’s no Jack Ryan

Since his time at the USNA he Has been close enough to circles of power that he sees himself as an educated and useful player to advance his beliefs about Russia-US relations, which are antithetical to the neocon Cold War mentality and anti-Russia scheme hatched by Hillary’s legion

It didnt used to be considered traitorous to want to push a “ reset” button in US-Russian relations

seems totally out of his league dealing with sharks like Comey and McCabe

Actually, I think a public hanging on the National Mall on the day of the big military parade would satisfy.

So we recognize a few names of FISA signers on Carter Page: Comey, McCabe, Yates, Boente and the slime Rod Rosenstein.

Looks like they set Page up as a Mole in the Trump Camp to enable surveillance on Candidate Trump and his people in the fall of 2016?

Anyone who thinks Carter Page is this genius spy mastermind should watch Laura Ingraham’s interview with him last night. Either he is a great actor, or a nice guy who is a bit of a doofus who got in over his head and naively went along for the ride.

Well, I’m not ready to concede that Page was planted as a “mole” inside the Trump organization or anywhere else.

It’s beginning to appear that Page, a former paid FBI informant, was thrown under the bus by DOJ and the FBI for the express purpose of opening the net after he joined the Trump campaign, albeit temporarily; it would have been the most expeditious route into the Trump campaign at the time. I also suspect that a number of conversations involving members of the Trump campaign and transition team were intercepted and the participants unmasked as a result of broadening the Bureau’s “interest” beyond Page himself - even after he left the campaign. We now know what that interest was.

As for Page having worked on the staff of Sen. Moynihan, I wouldn’t read too much into that. I had dinner with Sen. Moynihan in 1990 when I was a captain in the Army and, although we didn’t agree on hardly anything, I genuinely liked the guy. we had some long, very in-depth discussions on a number of issues, but they were pleasant and civil. Yes, he was a liberal, but he was also an old-school Democrat and a civil libertarian to the core, i.e., nothing like Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelosi. He would have been aghast at what’s being uncovered right now, as would many of his contemporaries.

Short answer...a book deal. Long answer...trying to look like an unwilling dupe. He was not hoodwinked by the FBI and blamed to be a spy. That was their attempt to try to distance themselves (and each other) from their unholy alliance to get Trump...IMO, of course!

After reading the many posts here referencing Carter Page’s political history, it is more likely that if Page did decide to no longer work for the FBI that he did so because he realized Trump was going to win and people like Page always attach themselves to people with power.

So he changed horses.
