And just to show how dumb W was he did that with to few troops to occupy a not really conquered Iraq. Even thou his top general (whom W fired) told him he did not have enough troops to successfully occupy Iraq.
Evidently W really did believe the neocon lie that the Iraqis would throw rose petals at our feet.

A couple of troubling things in his report. The technology gap between the good guys and bad guys appears to be narrowing, not just in the middle east, but all over the world. This seems to coincide with the obama presidency. Iran is the main bad actor over in middle east and obama dumped billions in their laps. I see a common thread in this story.

Wounded pilot. Syrians claimed they damaged multiple planes according to radar data but didn't shot down any. It seems like one crashed right after limped back to Israel's airspace and the rest got back to base but there might be more wounded.

I might agree that someone might have not seen 9/11 coming in 1991 (although they should have seen it) but it was obvious that Iran would become a dominant force in the Middle East as Iraq weakened.
They are mad now at Syria becoming an Iranian puppet but what choice does it have? Should it succumb to Sunni radicals or what? Politic is an art of possible. You can’t have it the way you wish and it is true everywhere. You can’t blame others choosing lesser evil when you put them in such a position first.
