Too many of the current generation of parents haven’t a clue of how to be one!

I am a baby boomer that had parents who, Thank the Good Lord, believed that Doctor Spock was full of shit!

With them as role models, I learned how to be a parent! And my son’s success proves that I learned.

Awesome.

Mental health and parenting are huge factors.

There are a lot of good single mothers who are simply overwhelmed with the task of parenting children AND working full time outside the home. The continued collapse of the Father-Mother-children nuclear family is hastening the decay of our culture. A single mother is simply hamstrung to be able to raise her children right. It is not fair to single mothers. Children need a Father, and Mothers need HELP.

And that is just one major problem with our cultural decline today. Everything else Kelly mentioned is true, along with turning away from God, social media, lack of manners and civility, and more.

The very first step should be to Throw Away your Television, severely limit any interaction with the Entertainment and Sports industry as much as possible.

This will increase your chances of raising a healthy morally balanced child by at least 50%

you post : “Good thinking but don’t forget that this killer had no parents when he went on his rampage.”

But he was destroyed with psychotropic drugs - and was screaming for month to be stopped.

Everyone ignored it. Political Agenda: Gun Control.

Excerpt: “‘adverse drug reactions’ — according to the drug’s FDA-approved label — include ‘mania,’ ‘insomnia,’ ‘anxiety,’ ‘agitation,’ ‘confusion,’ ‘amnesia,’ ‘depression,’ ‘paranoid reaction,’ ‘psychosis,’ ‘hostility,’ ‘delirium,’ ‘hallucinations,’ ‘abnormal thinking,’ ‘depersonalization’ and ‘lack of emotion,’ among others.”

In fact, as Ch 2 WCGH reported in 2009, “One study shows a quarter of all children on drugs such as Paxil and Zoloft become dangerously violent and/or suicidal.”

There is no “plan B”. They blame everyone and everything except the cesspool culture the left has created for us and that has caused so much confusion in young kids.

you post: “Arm teachers.
Privatize the school system.
Stop taking God and morality out of culture.
Do away with political correctness and culture control”

The horse has already left the barn before all that.

It has to be stopped at the root: ‘Legal Drug Pushers’ in league with the government.

WAKE UP, SHEEPLE PEOPLE.

Free Republic USED to expose the truth!

excerpt: “ Wednesday’s Florida high school attack, where 17 people died in a “gun-free” zone. For that matter, all mass public shootings in Florida have been in places where general citizens weren’t allowed to defend themselves, and since 1950, over 98 percent of mass public shootings in the U.S. have occurred in these gun-free zones.”

http://thehill.com/opinion/national-security/374410-in-anti-gun-fever-media-misses-some-crucial-facts

Make is go vial - scream to all the media outlets. Let all your reps, from local to the WH know hat you KNOW. this case is perfect to get this out. This kid screamed for months for someone to stop him - from what his drug crazed mind was telling him to do. Was the inaction, especially by the FBI, deliberate- to further push the agenda - GUN CONTROL?

Stop being just nattering nabobs. Make this go viral. This may be our last window of opportunity to get the truth out. It’s depressing to see even how many Freepers haven’t a clue.

What about parents who are just as disturbed as their kids? What about parents who are AFRAID of their spawn? What about parents in denial who will excuse and defend their mentally ill 'troubled' kid? Think they'll 'step up' to handle what they made?

No, they send their bats**t crazy kids to school-where they start acting up in kindergarten. They are supposed to be WUVVED out of mental illness, or absorb normalcy by being mainstreamed with unprepared normal children. That's like expecting someone with an IQ of 70 to become a genius by listening to Stephen Hawking.

Mentally ill kids DON'T fit in, and the kids they are forced upon KNOW and treat them like outcasts. So the 'handicapped' kids feel even worse because they can't be 'normal' and everyone who has to deal with them is worse off!

He had parents during his formative years. Somebody was calling the police to their home. They were failures at parenting before their deaths. That’s sad, but true.

People put teachers on pedestals, like they do judges. WRONG. They crap their pants like everyone else.

This teacher is unique and gutsy in speaking against the NEA/PTA/SJW/proggie line. I give her a lot of credit. And I’m sure she’s gonna pay for it.

sue Broward County School Board...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I believe this WILL happen. I posted the following a few days ago:

“My uninformed guess is that the Broward County Schools District (or whatever the name of legal entity is) will face lawsuits totaling at least $500 million damages.
Heck, it could be as much as $50 billion.
And I seriously expect that it will bankrupt the school district, and the Florida state legislature will have to get involved somehow.”

I come from a family of teachers and spent three years as a middle school teacher after retiring from the military. Absolutely shocked by what I encountered (and that was over a decade ago); I can only imagine what conditions are like today.

The Florida teacher is indeed a brave woman, she willingly touched the “third rail” of American education: school discipline. It’s no secret that government schools have been spinning out of control for decades, and much of that decline can be traced to a near-total absence of discipline and control in many classrooms.

Research shows that six percent of school students are responsible for more than two-thirds of the serious disciplinary infractions. Yet, many of those students are allowed to linger in regular classrooms, creating an obvious safety hazard and in many cases, preventing any hope of actual learning.

Two reasons they’re allowed to stay: First, changes in government laws that permit kids to stay in school up to the age of 21(!) if they haven’t graduated. Obviously, the majority of these young geniuses will never earn a diploma, but it’s more convenient for the cops and parents. The second reason comes down to money. A disproportionate number of these “students” qualify for the federal school lunch program. The more kids that go through the cafeteria line, the more money the district collects from Uncle Sam.

There are tools for dealing with dangerous students, including expulsion. The Parkland system deserves credit for booting the shooter, but they failed by not having a security system that prevents expelled students from returning to campus and opening fire on their former classmates and teachers. Likewise, it’s a fair bet the school wasn’t aware that local law enforcement had been to the shooter’s home 39 times in eight years, dating back to the time when he was 10 years old. Yet, the collective resources of the school system, law enforcement, social services and the courts couldn’t identify him as a clear threat and develop a plan to mitigate the risks he posed.

Kudos to that Florida teacher for identifying the 8pp-pound gorilla in the room. The stunning lack of discipline in schools creates an atmosphere that only encourages school shooters to carry out their plans. I hope she is pension-eligible, because her career in the classroom will soon come to an end. She has departed from the education orthodoxy and that cannot be allowed.

One more thing: it’s no coincidence there has never been a mass shooting at a private or religious school. Most won’t admit kids with a history of disciplinary issues at public schools. Additionally, parents of kids attending parochial or private schools are much more involve in their children’s lives/education (as a rule) and would likely intervene before their behavior reaches a breaking point. And lastly, private and religious schools still teach values and standards that go hand-in-hand with discipline, respect and learning.

Thankfully, my kids are now adults, but when I speak to young parents, my message is simple: you have only two choices; home school or a private or religious school. If you send your kids to public school you really don’t care about their education.

My relative is also a public school teacher who says the same thing. You have to have a mental handle on them as tiny tots, because the day is going to come when they are too big to whop their diapered Fanny’s or backs of their hands.

"A Florida middle school teacher who was named Teacher of the Year at her school said that parents need to “step up” and control their kids’ behavior."

The problem is that we’re probably talking about family problems that go back a few generations in some cases.

Insights welcome.

We can't give this issue over to democrats. They're already lying to the students and passing out premade 'protest signs'...

Students need to understand MSNBC reporters live in places with massive gun control laws... but what MSNBC 'talent' depends on to be safe is ARMED GUARDS, METAL DETECTORS, ID CARDS, AND IN HOUSE SECURITY. Same with the reporters and editors of the country's newspapers. They know how to keep themselves safe. That's not what they're sharing with the kids.

This teacher's voice will not be heard either if democrats have their way. Her voice is for the long run - bringing back sanity to the culture.

Democrats and their tools in the press want Gun Control - period.

A “President's Student Committee On School Violence’ should to be formed.

Seminars can be done in Washington DC quarterly - - offering different viewpoints and making recommendations. A year from the date of the shooting the Aaron Feis Work Group will give their report to the nation.

Student's voices matter... but they need facts, adult guidance and a rational approach to problem solving - - one that goes beyond 'marching with slogans'...

As far as property taxes, part of that goes towards fire protection.

Yet another ‘service’ able to be billed directly to the property owner. Sure the insurance companies would LOVE to have proof of that....But, hey, house it paid off and you don’t want it? Take the risk. Long as it’s not attached or winds don’t ignite the neighbors, it’s all on the owner.

Bad enough they rolled trash pickup into it as well. Had to call 3 weeks in a row because they ‘missed it’. Still had to pay and deal w/ the problem; govt didn’t care, $$ in their hand and they’ll ‘get around to it’ in their sweet time.

It’s already technically “billed” to the property owner... That’s what the taxes are.
