If Trump fires Sessions, the Senate won’t approve Trump’s replacement. If he speaks publicly, he cannot be accused of making threats that aren’t also known in public as not being formal threats. Doing this in public is the safe way to do it, without investigations following his dismissal. Also, the Public gets on Trump’s side to hold Senators accountable to replace Sessions with someone competent.
