Rachael Brand is/was #3 at DOJ, and she resigned. She is due to show up at her new job on or around April 2nd. Thus she may still be holding her position for a short time.
Once she is gone her replacement is Noel Francisco who was a clerk for Scalia and is a good guy.
Noel Francisco moves into her #3 spot, #2 Rosenstein and #1 Sessions get fired, and Noel Francisco automatically moves into the top spot without Senate approval.
I suspect Trump may be getting everyone so fed up with the swamp that firing Rosenstein and Sessions will seem very reasonable to the electorate.

10/21/17 Following pressure from President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans, Sessions last month said he would consider appointing a new special counsel to look into Clinton and Uranium One, as well as other matters involving Democrats. Sessions pledged during his confirmation hearing last year that he would recuse himself from any possible investigations involving Clinton.
As much as I liked and admired Sessions when he was in the Senate, I truly believe he is over his head as AG. I mistrusted him when he recused himself from the Russia BS! Trump should have gotten rid of him then. He’s never struck me as being pro-law or pro-Trump! Never too late to do the right thing and get rid of him!
