Heineken has removed a television ad following a wave of online criticism slamming the commercial as "terribly racist."
In a 30-second ad promoting the beer companys "Lighter is Better" campaign for its light beer, a bartender slides a bottle of beer past several customers to reach a woman in the distance.
As several people online noticed, during the commercial the beer passes by customers who are darker-skinned while the woman who receives the beer in the end is noticeably fairer-skinned.
Heineken has removed the ad from TV and online rotation and acknowledged that it missed the mark.
For decades, Heineken has developed diverse marketing that shows theres more that unites us than divides us, a spokesperson for Heineken said in an email to NBC News. While we feel the ad is referencing our Heineken Light beer, we missed the mark, are taking the feedback to heart and will use this to influence future campaigns."

For cryin out loud! These are sad times were living in!
And here I thought it was just fat-shaming. /sarcasm
Companies which sell powerful flashlights should take note. Don’t talk about what makes your product superior. It might offend someone.
Wait a minute, isn’t Chance the Rapper on TV selling chocolate? What am I supposed to read into that?
How does a business survive in a world run by imbeciles.
It really, truly IS like Idiocracy.
This type of bullshit is what is dividing us even further.
They could always go with “Queerer is better” since they have homo Neil Patrick Harris doing their advertisements.
I get a kick out of those Mexican panther piss commercials that use the music from Eastwood’s spaghetti westerns. IIRC, the Mexicans didn’t do well in those movies. Clint killed them all. LOL.
They probably thought they were being nice by hiring the black actors for the ad. Now if their beer was slid by some bottles of malt liquor beer that may be a different story...
According to OJ and Tiger, lighter is better.
Hmm, I wonder if they slid a bottle of Guinness down the bar to Samuel Jackson, while saying “Darker is better”, would they get the same reaction? I suspect it would be regarded as amusing rather than racist.
Do not queer the beer!...................
The blame is not with the ad content, but with whoever cast the actors for it. Could’a used a mix of folks dressed in dark colors and dressed the beer’s recipient in a lighter color.
The whole thing is a fake story ginned up by Heineken. They know the idiot media will run with this "story". Heineken gets to advertise its beer for free.
ONCE AGAIN the minority dictates! Sooner or later the public will get fed up!
When is a product just a product? How about “white” bread? “White” rice? “White” beans? “White” wine? Give it a rest, libs.
Shut ins whine again it’s all they know get a life.
