uring an interview with Fox News host Harris Faulkner today U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) discussed a response letter he received from FBI Director Christopher Wray.

Senator Paul inquired with the FBI Director about whether reassigned FBI Agent Peter Strzok and DOJ/FBI Attorney Lisa Page still retained their Top Secret FBI clearances.

According to Senator Paul, the FBI director would not respond to specific agent inquiry, however, Wray did affirm that all existing FBI officials retain Top Secret clearances.

In essence, Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, despite being removed from investigative authority over their role in the political efforts to target President Trump, retain employment within the DOJ/FBI apparatus in an unknown capacity and thereby their clearances.

They should be on suspension, sitting in cells at Leavenworth.

If you fire them, then you cannot compel cooperation with the IG’s office. Just like a cop, if you resign or retire, you can tell Internal Affairs to take a flying leap.

I’m not sure if you are kidding or on acid.

Jeff Sessions has been AG for 1 year, 2 months, 2 days.

Not really.

I thought Jeff Sessions recused himself only from the Trump/Russia allegations of collusion, I didn’t think he was recusing himself from the Hillary/Russia Collusion.

Uhhh not sure what you mean? I’ve been in Law Enforcement for over 25 years and have been a PBA delegate, if you are no longer employed by an agency, you have no duty to cooperate with an Internal Affairs investigation.

“”””if you are no longer employed by an agency, you have no duty to cooperate with an Internal Affairs investigation.”””

What internal affairs investigation? It’s a CRIMINAL investigation.

In your hazy way of thinking do you think you are untouchable because you quit?

Removing a clearance is a big deal...the fact they are maintained means the due date for revaluation of the clearances has not occurred and they are active employees..thus active clearences. .the real question is can they hop on a system and view classified data or attend meetings with classified data in them...

Answer is prolly not...and I doubt when it comes time to renew those clearances.. it won’t happen..

Its just data to manipulate a position and to make some people look like they care...

Having a clearance isn’t that important. It’s the access that would concern me; I assume their access to all things sensitive has been squelched?

‘the real question is can they hop on a system and view classified data’

What’s stopping them?

If they have been flipped, and are cooperating, perhaps by the book, they need the security clearances to view documents. Which documents? The ones that show crimes have been committed.

But the investigation has not reached them yet, as far as we know. The best chance to get info from them, it to make them subject to the IG and have them testify. Once you come after them criminally, they’ll lawyer up. I was referring to a police IAB investigation. Very often dirty cops will resign rather than cooperate with IAB and face internal discipline. In order to get them on corruption charges, you have to go after them criminally and then they have all the rights and privileges of any other citizen.

So if there was a dirty cop who took bribes, stabbed people who wouldn’t pay up etc. it would be best to keep him on full duty, full pay and full access to all records for a few years instead of firing him. Got it.

No. You’re missing my point. If there was a cop doing that, once he knew he was under investigation by IAB, he’ll resign or retire. Then you have to go after him criminally. The fact that neither Strozk nor Page has done that, makes me wonder whether or not they are cooperating. If they are, that’s reason enough to keep them around.

You might not cooperate with an IA investigation, but resigning wouldn’t give you a get-out-of-jail free card for past crimes.
