APNewsBreak: California rejects border duties for troops

California has rejected the federal government’s initial plans for National Guard troops to the border because the work is considered too closely tied to immigration enforcement, two U.S. officials told The Associated Press.

The state informed federal officials it will not allow its troops to fix and repair vehicles, operate remotely-controlled surveillance cameras to report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol, operate radios and provide “mission support,” which can include clerical work, buying gas and handling payroll, according to officials with knowledge of the talks who spoke condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter.

Talks between U.S. and California officials about the duties the California troops would perform soured Friday and over the weekend after state authorities told federal officials that they would not participate in vehicle maintenance and the other jobs outlined for an initial phase across the border in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, the U.S. officials said. The other border-state governors — all Republicans — have openly embraced Trump’s plans.

The state’s position infuriated some federal officials because the restrictions California officials wanted to impose on what the state’s troops would not do were considered onerous, the officials said.

“Just nationalize the troops needed.”

Not without a 9th circus bloviating and meaningless objection.

Also I Trump “federalizes” the Ca guard that will send a message to the California independence dementia dreamers. A “Flower Power” only rebellion is not a good idea!

And I wonder what BroJoeK and “X” think about California’s intent to nullify Federal laws/obligations. :)

I don’t expect to get much sympathy from you guys, but you do know that not everyone in CA is a DemocRat, right? I live in the People’s Republic and I am most certainly NOT a DemocRat.

I’m a proud supporter of President Trump. So is my wife and so is my son. There are millions of us here; we just get drowned out by all the liberal knuckleheads in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Transfer the Border Patrol agents from the Mexico-to-California crossings to other states. Leave just enough to manage a single gate at each crossing. Close the rest.

Cut all Anti Terror funds to California.

They will be fine.

Ninth Circuit wouldn’t get a vote. The President has the clear constitutional authority to federalize National Guard troops. When he does that, he gets to direct their employment. That’s the deal.

this is fake news. Note “anonymous” sources saying they won’t comply when in fact the article says official sources have not been contacted. This is put out by DNC to help Brown save face with his base while quietly complying with Trump.

Eisenhower not only federalized the Arkansas National Guard in 1957, he sent troops from the 101st Airborne.

You have my sympathy. I’m a native Californian, left five years ago for the second time, but there are many fine patriots that live there. Even in the bay area where I’m from. Plus I have family there.

If this is fake news then I’m glad it is. There’s enough problems without this.

Too bad the late Jeff Sessions isn’t around to cut every penny of federal funds from CA….oh, that’s right. He claims to be alive.

Tomorrow is tax day, when we are forced to give our hard-earned money to the federal government to waste on worthless Communist states such as CA, NY, and IL. Infuriating.

You know my pain, then. We would leave in a heartbeat but family considerations preclude us from doing so. I salute you for seizing the initiative.

Except the top and bottom today are the same width.

Your version would appear top-side heavy.

It wouldn’t make a very good field of stars.
