Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott is urging tax-burdened New Jersey residents to move to the lone star state, following the release of New Jersey's budget proposal calling for tax hikes in the state where rates are already among the highest in the nation.
Hey, Jersey, dont move to Fla. to avoid high taxes, come to Texas. Love, Gov. Abbott, the column is titled.
Abbott outlined the budget proposal unveiled by newly sworn-in Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, which requests a $2.7 billion increase from the prior years budget. Abbott wrote that the tax hikes include raising the sales tax and applying that tax to everything from ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft to online room booking. The plan also is set to raise income taxes on those making more than $1 million per year.
This tax hike would only exacerbate the economic woes for a state whose tax burden and cost of living are already among the highest in the nation, Abbott wrote. Thats why Id like to throw a lifeline to businesses and families throughout New Jersey who are looking for greater economic opportunity and relief from high taxes. Come to Texas and be a part of our economic success story.

Texas may not like the results...look at Colorado...
I left the state in 2000...Californians moved in and ruined it
He should have said “Liberals not welcome.”
As long as they leave their voting patterns in Jersey.
Oh hell no!
NO!!!! We don’t want them!!!!!
(where do we find these guys ?)
My first thought is the Dennis Prager video intended for foreign immigrants; “Immigrants, don’t vote for what you fled!”
Socialist policies made your home so bad that you left. If you vote for socialist policies in your new home, you’ll ruin that, too.
Too many of them think it is unavoidable, or they blame the resources not available anymore. They then replicate the same failed policies thinking oh, those are good ideas, they have money for it HERE ...
I was talking to someone here about being technically able to live comfortably on SS alone in KY after I pay off the house. They said, “what about the property tax”.
The property tax is so low here that it’s not a factor. It’s one of the reasons I moved here from Seattle. I hate the concept of renting my property from the government.
New Jersey “conservatives” are bound to be more like Texas slightly-to-the-left-of moderates. They will dilute our conservative politics, perhaps slightly, but perceptibly.
Yuck, F off, were full.
This guy has obviously not had to spend time with many denizens of New Jailsey. If he had, the last thing he would want is to deal with that! Although after 10 to 20 years of not drinking Delaware and Passaic river water they may transmogrify!
I wish we could encourage established Texans to increase our state population organically by having more children, not by importing foreigners.
We have hot, hot, humid summers
We have violent tornadoes and thunderstorms
We have dangerous ice in winter instead of snow
We have LOTS of guns
(Truth in advertising)
Can’t speak for NJ, but NYS is mostly red bits. Trust me when I tell you that your state could use the folks bugging out from Upstate.
The good Governor might want to consider pulling that welcome mat.
Liberals are cultural cancer.
As long as they don’t bring their New Jersey attitudes as well as their New Jersey politics. The former drove me out of New Jersey in 1988, and I am a native of that place. HI have not been back there. Texas is home.
What he should have said was New Jerseyites are welcome........to join us here in Texas as we shoot off our guns weekly at the range.
P.S. fags not welcome.
That would keep the Leftist trash out.
And Scorpions! Lots and lots of scorpions - They were here first!
