A couple of years ago my wife and I were casually checking out homes for sale in Sante Fe, NM. Just out of curiosity. One home in particular was appealing....about the same size as our current home in illannoy. The place was gorgeous and had a great pool to boot. Being paranoid about the real estate taxes I inquired as to how much and was told $500 something. I said no, not the annual electric bill but the property tax. RE agent repeated herself and showed me the bill. We pay eleven large in the illannoy SSR.
Yeah. Every time I fly into Chicago all I see under me is a MASSIVE tax base. :)

I'm a New Jersey resident who might consider moving to Texas. However, nothing will do more to stop me from doing this than knowing that you are trying to get lots of other @ssholes from this state to go there.

Well here in CA we have none of the first three, and sorry to point it out, but we have MORE GUNS than you do in Texas despite our current government of fools.
I have a friend who does new homes sales work. She is not shy about asking people if the vote Republican or not when they are planning to move to Texas from out of state. Most of the people say they are trying to get away from the libs. She is their top sales person so she gets away with it.

No, why would he say that? Texas is already leaning more liberal as our economy grows and we get more CA transplants. No more northeasterners! (except for the few who are conservative, they are certainly welcome).

Inviting the businesses is fine, but stop inviting hard core Democrats to come to Texas! They just vote for other hard core Democrats to rule them.
