Tuesday nights primary election results in Indiana, Ohio, and West Virginia provided a major lift to the GOPs likelihood of maintaining the Senate. In Indiana, Mike Braun, a pro-Trump businessman, capitalized on his grassroots support to defeat two sitting U.S congressmen in order to challenge Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.) in the fall. Congressman James Renacci (R) won his primary in Ohio in decisive fashion in order to take on Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). And perhaps most importantly, West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey pulled off a major upset in a three-way race, defeating the ever-controversial Don Blankenship, guaranteeing a cage match with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) in a state that voted overwhelmingly for Trump in 2016.
And if a recent Morning Consult survey released last week is accurate, the Democrats should be very worried. Despite leading the generic ballot nationwide 40-35, the numbers get ugly for Democratic incumbents state-by-state, especially for the most vulnerable:
Florida: Republicans 38, Democrats 37 Indiana: Republicans 39, Democrats 34 Missouri: Republicans 38, Democrats 33 Montana: Republicans 42, Democrats 37 North Dakota: Republicans 38, Democrats 30 Ohio: Democrats 38, Republicans 36 West Virginia: Republicans 43, Democrats 29
Those are not blue wave numbers. Not at all.
Much can change in politics, and theres still a lot of time before November. But the clamoring for a Democratic wave year may prove to be déjà vu from 2016 more wishful thinking from political pundits and media elites desperate to find anything to derail Donald Trump.

Because Democrats always snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Their rabid hatred for Trump all but guarantees it.
Good luck beating a popular President.
Lord, in the Name of Jesus, please let President Trump hold on to a majority in the House and Senate!
Montana: Hehe. Bye bye, Tester.
i can’t wait to see the liberal tears - AGAIN this november
Switch Democrats with GOPe and your statement would also be true.
No, because the State Media always run fake polls saying the Dems are going to win and the real results are just the opposite.
Trump said it was ‘a act of love’ when he kicked Jeb’s ass.
Best election ever!
Down the memory hole!
The so-called “blue wave” is parallel to flushing the toilet after that blue disinfectant is put in. Disinfect America! LIBs OUT!
I’ll bet its more like a “Blue Crossover”.
A Blue Wave is coming! /sarc
I never believed in the “Blue Wave”. It could happen, especially if the GOP establishment blocks progress, but it was never as likely as the #FakeNews media pretended.
If we manage to hand the Republicans a 60 seat supermajority in the Senate, what will there excuse then be for failing to implement the Republican agenda?
Not to excited yet about these pro Trump candidates. We have to wait and see how they handle it when the Democrat smear machine hits them. If they don’t learn from Richard Murdoch and Todd Aiken, they’ll go down
Beware national generic ballot numbers. They are impacted by wide margins for Democrats in certain Congressional districts in California and New York. The only thing that really matters is a district by district analysis.
