Yup, you’re right.

I’ve lost two close family members to suicide and the pain never goes away.

But I don’t blame them as I know the pain and suffering they were in, and the demons they struggled with.

Some people are helpless in the face of it...

I hope Bourdain is at peace.

Depends on the situation/context...for most it’s a sad commentary.

Thanks for posting, I was not previously aware of Dr. Herd, but have now looked at his website.

I think he presents a good argument about an issue that requires tough-minded thinking.

Mental illness can lead to suicide, but seldom does.

There are many myths. But young children left behind do suffer from this trauma in my experience.

Thank you for that. My reply was not going to be as polite.

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

You win the award for the stupidest most ignorant post! I have suffered severe depression for the last 25 years and not a day goes by that I don't consider suicide. And you tell me it's temporary? Well I guess your right because it WILL end on the day I finally decide to stop considering it and take action.

You assume it is permanent, and for many it may be. I don’t agree this is true for everyone. I fought this condition with my daughter and she has overcome this condition for many years.

Clinical depression is tough and can’t be solved with cheer-ups. She is also epileptic and it just so happens that one of her two seizure meds has controlled this in addition to her seizures; Lamictal.

No. Who they leave behind are the victims of their suicide.
