How about a little hint to where Kansai is.

Many moons ago I moved from Kansas to California. Everyone said I was crazy to move where all the earthquakes were.

I remember watching a street car slowly changing tracks just down from our house, as a whopper “up and down” quake rippled through the street. The street car was moving at maybe 2 mph but hopped off track with a shower of sparks from the overhead electric feed.
The car was marooned for about half an hour until a wrecker truck arrived and lifted it back on track.

The one in Mexico was apparently caused by fans after the soccer win against Germany. An ‘artificial quake’ is the term they’re using.

I spent two years at Yokota AB, east of Tokyo, 1984 - 1986. Hardly an earthquake in Japan while I was there.

On the other hand, in two years I weathered the tail ends of four typhoons and suffered through three heavy snowstorms. I was SSGT/E5 and essential personnel, so had to go to work no matter what. Slogged through high wind and rain, 3-foot deep snow, and ice.

Kansai is where Osaka and Kyoto are (the western/southern part of the main island).

Kanto is where Tokyo/Yokohama/Chiba are.

Thank you.. all ok here. Just had an aftershock, but it was quick.

I was more worried about this house collapsing (it is an OLD Japanese wooden house, and I am staying on the first floor).
