My mom, who has severe pancreatitus, takes 4 - 6 tramadol(50mg.) every day. She now takes a THC hard candy of 5mg. with her evening tramadaol. Says she is getting better sleep with the candy without as much pain. At 88 years old, if it helps her, I say take it.

If you say so. A sign at my orthopedic surgeons office said pain meds will be prescribed for two weeks AFTER a surgery. None after that. None before that.
Weed is essentially free if the State scheme allows people to grow for personal use. One could go to a dispensary and buy the boutique varieties for about what weed cost in the 80’s.

No. I had to drive to the doctor's office and get another paper RX and physically bring that in to the pharmacy, too.
Sorry, but I personally know 3 people that used Arizona’s medical marijuana laws to get off opiods, they were on a pain management program via opiods and wanted off it because it was destroying their lives... they now cope with their cronic non cancer pain with a natural plant God put on this earth for us to use.
The majority of users are legitimate. Why screw them over?

Not anymore. DEA regs have required a doctor visit for each refill for years now. Which does nothing for anyone with real chronic pain, but certainly enriches doctors and drives up medical insurance costs.
They allow exceptions for those who are under the long term pain management care of a physician....BUT...the prescribing doctor must contact the pharmacy and verbally assent to knowing the "rules" and the effects. Another example of the state punishing the innocent for the guilty few. One more hoop to jump through in a series of hoops!
So the propaganda lie that increased marijuana usage through legalization will decrease opiod use is just that...a massive lie.

Raw, live Marijuana does not contain THC. Only when it is dried out or heated does the THCa in it convert to THC.
THCa appears to have the same therapeutic benefits of THC, including analgesic properties, without causing someone using it to get high.
In Florida, you must get a NEW prescription (NO refills) every 30 days - it cannot be sooner than 30 days, either. And it cannot be filled any sooner than 28 days from the last one. Now, the pharmacy has to call the doctor after the prescription has been given to the pharmacist in order to be VERBALLY assured he/she is aware of the new laws. It is getting ridiculous! Those who have legitimate need for chronic pain relief are being penalized every single month because of the illegal and criminal abusers. There has to be a way to meet the need without awarding the criminals.

In my experience, most authoritarian prohibitionists are frauds & liars.
I’ve made a lot of (untaxed!) wine at home. Even if you get very particular about your process (which I am); it just doesn’t seem to be much more difficult or time-consuming than growing and curing pot would be.
OTOH, if you go to a neighbourhood wine-kit store, you can make a batch of wine with little time, zero skill or specialized knowledge, and no space (except for what the store charges for rack-space rent). The idea is that the store is just selling you grape juice — you have to add the yeast yourself. That way, it's your *fault* that the grape juice spoiled, and turned into wine. Your only other task is to help put it into bottles. I've never made it that way; because, I want a lot more control over the process. However, I do know that it's so easy that winos should do it — they could drink decent wine, for less than the cost of rot gut.
As for the pot growing — that's almost all done indoors around here (BC). Maybe that’ll change, when it's legal here — except that we probably don't have the best climate for outdoors growing. Growing indoors is, by all accounts, quite time consuming and expensive (but, still profitable). As for growing outdoors, I imagine it's just a bit more work than growing tomatoes — more, if you're trying for top quality. That makes it about comparable to wine-making (or beer-making).
