They may gloat all they like, those progressives.
But this is, at best, a Pyrrhic victory for them.
Pruitt is gone.
His replacement, Andrew Wheeler, though, is their worst nightmare.
Hes an ex-coal-industry lobbyist.
He led the team with Steve Milloy that killed Cap and Trade in 2009/10.
He gets far more than Scott Pruitt ever did that environmentalism has nothing to do with saving the planet and everything to do with killing capitalism.
Pruitt may be gone.
But the same president remains in the White House.
And his agenda remains unchanged.
The United States is going to remain the worlds fossil fuel superpower. Energy prices will stay low. The war on coal is over. Industry will flourish. Workers will reap their just rewards. Consumers will enjoy a higher standard of living.

WINNING!
MAGA!
Pruitt had to go. It does seem that Trump's team gets only one warning about dropping swampthing elitist behaviors. (Except for the Prince and Princess.....why are they still in DC?)

Hansen and Mann types: Say so long to Mr. Frying Pan, and hello to Mr. Fire.
Patience for sure:
Give it time, oil will drop < $60/barrel
Give it more time, we’ll hear about refinery investments...
Winning the energy wars ? We’re sitting on a ocean of obtainable crude. Why are gas prices skyrocking? With our oil situation, gas should never be more than $2 a gallon.
...environmentalism has nothing to do with saving the planet and everything to do with killing capitalism.
Thanks GonzoII.
The economy is booming so the inadequate number of refineries is causing the price jump. Wheeler should start by declaring an end to the idiotic regional blends. It just makes the problem worse.
Other variances in pricing: Summer demand, expanding economy, higher numbers of employed consumers driving to work and confident enough to take driving vacations once more, and limited refinery capacity courtesy of your friendly EPA and environmental whingers.
Wheeler will get even more done because he won’t be doing the stupid crap Pruitt did.
Thank you. I don’t think we’ve built a new oil refinery in 50 years, probably more. That would be good thing for DJT to do—lift the EPA ban on new oil refineries.
I was worried about his getting confirmed, but I suppose if he isn’t he can just stay as acting director forever.
“Skyrocketing” is a bit of an exaggeration. Average price is about 2.80 a gallon compared to almost four dollars in the second Obama term.

We need more CO2. Gets a greener planet and CO2 will physically be removed from the atmosphere naturally during the next cold ice age period. This is what you call planning ahead.
We don’t have enough refineries, and ANWR is going to take years just to get started up.
Anybody remember the temper tantrum that Al Gore threw back then? It's because, had Cap and Trade gone through, he would have gotten a small kickback on every one of the trades. He was slated to become the worlds first "green energy" billionaire.
And then he saw all that money just... go away.

I would like suggest that the Federal Government re-examine an idea that was floated about 20 years ago: Giving a very long lease to companies wishing to build refineries and other chemical plants on portions of former military bases. That way, it would be swifter and easier to get past many onerous regulations and “approvals”.
