At Lions Gate, a Drama in the Legal Department
Disney Fires Guardian of the Galaxy Director
Something else for me to worry about.
Liberals hoisted on their own petards. I love it.
I would not be surprised to see a second chance for most of these people as they get picked up by other studios or projects. Probably many of them have unique talents and abilities. So, many of them will survive and prosper, but probably in a different career path. Also, these kneejerk reactions to Tweets, some of which are years old but recently discovered, will prove a mistake for studios that are breaking contracts they’ll have to make good on anyway.
If Trump ever gets out of the Mueller inquisition he needs to have a Congressional Committee investigate Hollywood for sexual abuse and human trafficking.
James Gunn’s tweets deserved him getting canned.
That he continually “joked” about molesting little boys says something about him.
Selective outrage is Hollywood's middle name.
You think this children’s book author is going to get a second chance?

Just sending up trial balloons for possible items to be added to the Democrat Party platform.
“That he continually joked about molesting little boys says something about him.”
No argument. But I almost got fired for violating a company policy that had not yet been published. It was for sexual harassment which allegedly took place at a roast I gave for an employee who was leaving. I had it reviewed ahead of time by two senior employees and the lady in question threw herself into my arms and kissed me when I was done. Everybody, including her, had a terrific time. They even asked her if she was harassed and she said no. But the policy said that if an uninvolved third party overhead something and they thought it was harassment, or could be considered harassment by some arbitrary fourth party, by definition, it was. What saved me is I was being “prosecuted” (their word) by a “secret triumvirate of HR ethics professionals” and the HR manager was not involved. I was not allowed a defense or to face my accuser. It was all secret and I was informed of the results afterwards. The uninvolved HR manager got into a snit with the newly formed “ethics” board and turns out only he could dismiss an employee. (Especially one who had a perfect record and who regularly brought in business.)
The point is, society has gotten hysterically politically correct. Lots of people are being permanently damaged, and, like the witch trials, anybody can be next in the barrel.
Sadly, it isn’t much of a joke as it seems that’s what they do.
I was born in ‘54. People used to take pictures of their naked kids. Granted, it wasn’t roll after roll, but times were a lot looser and I think it was innocent. Nobody thought much about it. The YMCA had nude workouts until sometime in the ‘60’s. Practically every comedian had a routine about it. My Mom had a photo of me bare-assed on a bear skin on the wall. Don’t remember how old I was, not very. Times change. (But, damn. You have to wonder what was going through that man’s head. If that was taken anytime in the twenty-first century, it was poorly considered. On the other hand, if that’s the only indiscretion on his list, he may eventually recover from it. It depends on how well his books sell, really.)
A lot of people have no idea how things they do will be received and are shocked when people react negatively. Humor can be like that. When Trump said about McCain he preferred men who weren’t taken prisoner, it was a joke. It fell flat.
Scott Adams has an interesting point about viewpoint. For some people, where the line is drawn is dramatically different.

Unless those words call for the character assassination, pernicious hatred or filthy language aimed at President Trump. That's just fine with these Hollywood hypocrites.

Someone needs to invent a life rewind button.
That kind of thing doesn’t cross decent people’s minds. It’s not at all like misunderstandings or unwelcome sexual discussion involving adults.
Exactly.
And Gunn had over ten thousand such tweets.
TEN THOUSAND?!? Bloody hell.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand...................
..........Them movies is soooooooo gooooooooooood now that they have to beat the mobs of prospective viewers (i,e, customers) off with clubs and dogs and water hoses..........
..........no, wait...................
Because Disney-Marvel didn’t look into a big name director’s social-media profiles but anonymous serfs applying for desk jobs at corporations are warned that an online photo of them at a party with a beer in hand could keep them from landing a job???
doesn’t seem like it was an isolated case of “bad taste”
Gunn has long been a provocateur who has drawn ire in the past for his unusual humor. Among the tweets that forced Disney and Marvels hand were: I like when little boys touch me in my silly place.
Another: The best thing about being raped is when youre done being raped and its like whew this feels great, not being raped! There were others that made satirical comments about the 9/11 attack, AIDS and the Holocaust. Yet another described a monkey masturbating on a young child, and his commentary that it made him extremely happy. These missives were not funny and entirely disturbing, given a preoccupation with fetishing underage boys. That left him a sitting duck for his retroactive social media commentary.
Disney responded quickly and decisively: The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studios values, and we have severed our business relationship with him, said Alan Horn, Walt Disney Studios chairman, in a statement just released.
