Data from numerous ObamaCare expansion states reveal that, if new enrollees are not required to work, they will not workat all. Based on recent research, this conclusion bodes ill for Idaho should Medicaid expansion pass in November.
A new report authored by the nonpartisan Foundation for Government Accountability asserts that more than half of Medicaid expansion enrollees across the country dont have jobs. FGA said of the 12.4 million Medicaid expansion enrollees nationwide, 6.8 million are not working.
FGA says 70 percent of the Medicaid-expansion enrollees in Illinois arent working, the highest percentage of the dozen states surveyed. Of Idahos neighbors, Montana and Nevada have high percentages of Medicaid enrollees not having a job, near 60 percent each.
Released last month, The FGA report, ObamaCare Isnt Working, concludes, With no work requirement or time limit, ObamaCare effectively transformed Medicaida program originally intended to serve the elderly and disabledinto a new welfare trap for able-bodied adults. New data from more than a dozen ObamaCare expansion states reveal that, if expansion enrollees are not required to work, they will notat all.
Medicaid expansion proponents were quick to highlight what they consider flaws in the FGAs methodology. A Robert Wood Johnson Foundation researcher contends FGAs research doesnt consider individuals who might be exempt from work requirements. Said individuals might not be working because theyre involved in qualifying activities, such as job searches, training, and volunteer activities, say the researcher and other FGA detractors.

You’d be surprised. But I will tell you this, if you’re a senior who’s hidden his/her assets thinking that Medicaid/Medicare will take care of you in decent fashion, you’ll in for a very rude, possibly life-threatening, awakening.
My advice: Unless you’re willing to stake your life on your kids loving you, pay your way. You will get far better care.
Yes... I’d want something better than bargain basement if I could afford it.
They are dual eligibles because they can’t afford Medicare. So they get both.
“The FDR era frankly created makework”
Not a big demand for outhouses right now.
Why work when you can sit around on your fat, worthless a** all day watching tv, eating snacks, drinking cheap alcohol, toking and scratching your self? Work is for chumps. Get with the program ! !!
In expanded Medicaid states, there is no longer an asset test to get medicaid. They still have to worry about estate recovery if they pass away with big medical bills after 55.
NYS has income and asset tests for Medicaid. I’ve never heard of the state attempting recovery from the estate of someone who went on after age 65. I’m not opposed to it, however.
They are suppose to recover certain costs like nursing-home care. I don’t think the clock stops ticking when you hit 65. States don’t have to recover all costs, but have the option to. Somebody living in a cash short state like Illinois better read the fine print..
