“Colyer was twice elected as Brownback’s lieutenant governor. Once Brownback resigned then per the state constitution Colyer became governor. He didn’t get appointed to anything by anyone.”

If true, I appreciate your clarifying. I read something different which I was regurgitating. But just because it is on the internet doesn’t make it true.

The results are in. After 100% reporting Kris has less than a 200 vote lead.

Surely there must be some provisional ballots and overseas absentee ballots remaining to be counted (”100% of precincts reported” never means that it’s over), and even after those votes are tabulated a recount is likely, but I’d much rather be up by 191 votes than down by 191 votes. Hopefully Kobach can hold on.

You are correct, some counties still need to count provisional ballots and absentee ballots. Johnson County, the largest county in the state and where the delays occurred must do this. There will likely be a recount.

I believe that all of the Kansas counties have abandoned the touch screen machines in favor of paper ballots with an automated tabulation (scanned). So recounts can be manual. Johnson County implemented the new system for the first time for this election.

Colyer is a good conservative and won running that way. After Brownback he looked very good.

Kobach has caught Trumps eye and I want Trumps plans to succeed. Trump’s tweet of support for Koback helped me make my decision. Trump’s got 6 more years and we need to maximize those to the fullest.

Kobach looks better now and I wont mind having a ‘lil Trump running things in Kansas for a while.

In 1984, Kobach graduated from Washburn Rural High School in Topeka, Kansas, where he was co-valedictorian, and class president. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Harvard University, graduating summa cum laude and first in his department.

It was there that he came under the influence of the director of the university's Center for International Affairs, Professor Samuel P. Huntington. Those who observed Kobach closely said his views were shaped as he studied under Huntington. Huntington's theses was that migration, especially from Mexico and Latin America, represented the most perilous threat to what he called the “American identity.” From 1984 to 1988 he was Kobach’s student adviser, where he was described by many as Kobach’s philosophical mentor.

When Kobach taught law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Huntington’s writings were required reading in a Kobach course. As Kobach's mentor, he theorized that the United States suffered from a surfeit of democracy, and that diluting the power of the establishment would lead the country to ruin. In 1975 Huntington authored a pessimistic report entitled The Crisis of Democracy, about the challenge to the dominance of white Protestants by Hispanic immigrants. In his 1996 book, The Clash of Civilizations, he warned that "Mexicans pose the problem for the United States," simultaneously predicting and bemoaning the growing influence of Muslims in Western Europe.

From Harvard, Kobach went on to earn an M.A. and D.Phil. in Politics at the University of Oxford, attending having been granted a Marshall Scholarship. Returning to the U.S., he studied at Yale Law School, where he earned a J.D. degree in 1995, and became an editor of the Yale Law Journal. During this time, he published two books: The Referendum: Direct Democracy in Switzerland (Dartmouth, 1994), and Political Capital: The Motives, Tactics, and Goals of Politicized Businesses in South Africa (University Press of America, 1990).

YES !

He is as anti abortion as Colyer, but his stance on immigration is in perfect lock step with our current President.

The President is in lock step with Kris. Kris has been working on this issue since 2002.

That is just incredible. I thought for sure that Johnson County would sink Kris, since the percentage was remaining constant at +16 for Colyer. Make me very happy that Colyer lost. Of course, there will be an auto recount.

I read today, that the NRA endorsed Colyer. That struck me as odd, since Trump endorsed Kobach. ‘Splain that, Lucy.

Wow. That is some impressive resume. A conservative graduating tops in Government at lefty Harvard? That is truly amazing. If this guy runs for president in 2028, I’ll volunteer for him.

His legal resume is just as impressive. Working with Kris, I can echo your sentiment about him being Presidential material. He has more integrity and competence in his little finger than all of Congress lumped together. As I stated previously, he is one of the most impressive people I have ever met period.

The GOPe is out to destroy him. Kris can't be bought.

If you’re still in contact with him, make sure he doesn’t have skeletons that Soros will use against him in his prez run 12 years from now. There could be a Stormy Daniels slut who’ll come out of nowhere...

The NRA always endorses the incumbent if they have a high rating on guns.
