Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro challenged democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to a debate, offering to donate $10,000 to her campaign if she accepted -- but it triggered a sparring match online.
Shapiro initially tweeted a video on Wednesday in which he mocked Democratic National Committee chairperson Tom Perez for calling Ocasio-Cortez, a New York congressional candidate, the future of the Democratic Party, before issuing his challenge.
Miss Ocasio-Cortez, Im really excited that youve been elevated to that position and I would love to have a real conversation with you about the issues. Youve noted that you think Republicans are afraid to debate you or talk to you or discuss the issues with you, Shapiro said.
Not only am I eager to discuss the issues with you, Im willing to offer $10,000 to your campaign, today, for you to come on our Sunday special, he continued. We can have an hour long conversation about all the topics under the sun, really probe your belief system.

Pop quiz???
She’s proving herself to be not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Very young, very inexperienced. She’s in for a tough learning curve.
If she’s the future of the democratic party, it would confirm our suspicions that the party has a very short future.
She will never learn. Not as long as there is a political system that will serve to prop up her stupidity.
An hour? Her attention span would do her in, not the issues. She’ll win in November.
the Party doesn’t care WHO is elected. As long as they are in office, the Deep State is fine.
That would really be fun to watch.
So what happens if she loses her district? After all, the only think she has won is a primary where the incumbent was so far ahead that the people didn’t think he necessary to vote. This would be a great opportunity for the NY Republicans to actually do something other than acting like democrats.
What a dolt she is. I love watching her dig a deeper and deeper grave for herself.
While my initial reaction is like that of everyone else (This smackdown will be epic, can’t wait to see it, etc ..), a debate between these two might be so lopsided that it won’t even be entertaining. The other risk is that she might be so stupid that Ben would have trouble even engaging with her “arguments”. He’s debated some real morons, but she is on a level below the usual obese, purple-haired freaks he usually shoots down on college campuses.
I think little Benji has a crush on her..
She declares herself too stupid to be able to fare well in a debate and then infers it’s (catcall) mean to pick on the mentally deficient, such as herself and those who support her.....
She knows that Ben would wipe the floor with her.
Ocasio-Cortez dismisses Ben Shapiro's debate offer, compares to 'catcalling'
Just like catcalling, I dont owe a response to unsolicited requests from men with bad intentions, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Thursday night. And also like catcalling, for some reason they feel entitled to one.
Too early to be hitting the bottle.
I like to refer to her as Marxist Barbie.
You are assuming that those who vote democrat care about competence. She’s female, a woman of color and a socialist promising free stuff at someone else’s expense. She probably is the new face of the democrat party and will still be around winning elections for years to come.
Lady, he aint some drunk at the bar trying to get in your pants.
There are things that sound good on paper perpetual motion machines, time travel, socialism, “just give peace a chance”, gun-control, submitting money to the Clinton Foundation, etc., but they never can stand up to reality.
The socialists ignore human nature. There is a broad swath of people who vary from totally lazy ne’er-do-wells to hard working, risk taking entrepreneurs and everything in between. The socialist supporters believe everyone will float up to the middle, working just hard enough to support everyone else. But human nature doesn’t change just because you rename the system “democratic socialism”.
