Oh, I was waiting for Razor to unload in the wake of McCain’s death.
self ping
Man is this ever true....Term Limits is the only answer...and make them short.
Another McCain doozy. People need to remember this- When McCain suspended his presidential campaignhistoric crisis in our financial system, said McCain, who intends to return to Washington tomorrow to participate in Wall Street bailout negotiations on the Hill.
To me, this is how term limits should work. For this conversation, let’s put the limit at 12 years. That’s two full senate terms or 6 full house terms. I, NCC-1701 runs and wins a seat on the Hill. My 12 years starts the day I take the oath. I have 12 years to get things done. It doesn’t make any difference how I work it as long as it totals 12 years. After that length of time I am gone. I could not lay off an election cycle and run again. I would have had my limit and no more. I would have to look for another job not on the Hill. That’s the way it should work but unfortunately it won’t.
A decade or nearly so (two Senate terms in DC!) is long enough. Time to go home and reconnect with constituents, go home and experience the effects of ones governing genuis!
1. Two consecutive terms in the Senate - 12 years then must sit out a term before you can come back,
2. Five consecutive terms (10 years) then sit out three terms (6 years) before you can return.
Above all GO HOME!!!!!!
If you insist on being a professional politician, go home - run for governor, county commissioner, mayor, etc. Again go home! Maybe get a private sector job back home & not a Beltway pseudo-private sector job ! Again go home!
I agree on the 12 year limit. If one cannot get SOMETHING done in two Senate terms or six House terms, then they are not really trying.
FASCINATING...
THIS is a good plan.
This is an idea that should be promoted.
NO to term limits. The Constitution isn't broken, government is.
The REAL treatment Saint Juan of McQueeg ought to be getting by an honest media.
The poster boy for repeal of the 17th. Amendment.
Nope. The 17th Amendment would’ve kept RINOs like McQueeg entrenched for decades.
Pardon me, without the 17th, the legislature would’ve continue to elect RINOs like McQueeg. There wouldn’t be a Conservative Senator in the body except by accident.
no cross over house to senate that totals more than 12 altogether.
As long as they reach 12 years on the Hill. Doesn’t matter how they do it. 12 years AND THAT’S IT!
This country was never meant to have PROFESSIONAL POLITICIANS.
Our system was designed to have a CITIZEN identify a problem/problems and run for federal office to address those problems, specifically if they could not be handled at the local or state level.
I believe our problem with the entitlement mentality, and the idea of lifetime tenure actually started with the advent of PERMANENT POLITICAL PARTIES.
It is my opinion that if we get rid of political parties and go back to just being AMERICANS; electing those citizens that are willing to address SPECIFIC problems our system would be a lot better off.
Solve the problem; go back home to your business, your farm, your medical practice, whatever else you do in society that is actually beneficial to your neighbors.
Think about a system where there are no Republicans, no Democrats, no Socialists, no Greens, no all the other alphabet soup, special interest groups, just CITIZENS interested in GETTING THINGS DONE.
Razorfist rocks!
