Man is this ever true....Term Limits is the only answer...and make them short.
To me, this is how term limits should work. For this conversation, let’s put the limit at 12 years. That’s two full senate terms or 6 full house terms. I, NCC-1701 runs and wins a seat on the Hill. My 12 years starts the day I take the oath. I have 12 years to get things done. It doesn’t make any difference how I work it as long as it totals 12 years. After that length of time I am gone. I could not lay off an election cycle and run again. I would have had my limit and no more. I would have to look for another job not on the Hill. That’s the way it should work but unfortunately it won’t.
A decade or nearly so (two Senate terms in DC!) is long enough. Time to go home and reconnect with constituents, go home and experience the effects of ones governing genuis!
1. Two consecutive terms in the Senate - 12 years then must sit out a term before you can come back,
2. Five consecutive terms (10 years) then sit out three terms (6 years) before you can return.
Above all GO HOME!!!!!!
If you insist on being a professional politician, go home - run for governor, county commissioner, mayor, etc. Again go home! Maybe get a private sector job back home & not a Beltway pseudo-private sector job ! Again go home!
We TERM limit the POTUS..at 8 years..
This 20 yr..40 yr...plus...Congress people...are a cancer on our country.
They get rich...in D.C. the longer they can stay.
They corrupt the people getting there for the first time....or they try. Tom Coburn fought against it....and then gave up..saying you cannot..fight them. Who is them?...ALL of them..!!!
