A newly released poll by Quinnipiac University finds the governor's race between Ron DeSantis and Andrew Gillum virtually tied, with Tallahassee Mayor Gillum supported by 50 percent of likely voters and U.S. Rep. DeSantis by 47 percent. The Aug. 30 – Sept. 3 poll of 785 likely Florida voters (MoE +/- 4.3 percent) found men backing DeSantis over Gillum, 52 percent to 45, and women preferring Gillum, 56 percent to 43 percent.

"Mayor Andrew Gillum came out of his upset victory in the Florida Democratic primary with a head of steam," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Q-Pac, the Rat poll that somehow survives being wrong on every poll.

This Rat Pollster will be wrong again. No surprise.

“Even if this nutcase Gillum gets elected, he won’t have any power. Florida governors aren’t much more than cheerleaders for the state. The real power is in the legislature...........”

This. The “R's” have a super-majority in the House and a near super-majority in the Senate.

There would be total deadlock if Gillum was elected. That wouldn't be all bad.

As a Floridian, let me say that DeSantis and Scott will beat their opponents like rental cars. Take it to the bank.

Good, informed post.

Truth be known, a lot of Dems are probably very disappointed that he won the primary.

He won’t have any way to screw stuff up.

Even Lawton Chiles, the last Dem governor, just really sat back and had a nice stay. He died just a couple of weeks before Jeb Bush was to be inaugurated.

The minute Gillum has to defend his views in the heat of the campaign I expect to see his numbers start falling. Florida is not yet New York South!

So Gillum is being investigated by the FBI? Does this mean we can expect a big announcement from the FBI a week before the election declaring that Gillum has been completely exonerated?

I generally agree, and think Gillum will fade. Polling isn’t an election.

But Gillum and the Dems have two things:
The Race Card. They started “monkeying with it” right out of the blocks, then claimed racist robo calls from Iowa. Expect Race Card of the Day until November.
The MeToo Card: Dems cannot resist paying some whores to accuse DeSantis of not being gay 30 years ago. It’s just a matter of when. If they have anything legit, Republicans should unleash sexual misconduct allegations before the Dems make their play (preferably NOT involving anything white — exposing that would be decried as racist and heat up the leftist women).

Thanks GuavaCheesePuff. The "monkey it up" crap hasn't stuck, based on the way the media dropped it like a hot rock. DeSantis is leading, will win by a few points, perhaps as many as seven. That's what the Magic 7 Ball is saying anyway. ;^)

Quinnipiac University is a rabidly anti-American, communist organization.

"Live interviewers".

So a young, sweet sounding coed from Quinnipiac University calls and asks if you'll be voting for Gillum or that Trump-like guy who eats kittens.

This is 2018, and after 2016 everyone should be confident that polls utilizing live pollsters are not reliable. (After the disaster of 2016, why wouldn't they change their methodology?)

Don’t forget Buddy McKay. He was probably the last Democrat governor of Florida, for a couple of weeks, when he filled out Lawton Chiles term.
