The Corp puts out Govt bids for private companies to perform the work. Military is not involved in actual work. This still spreads the money to our citizens. I performed so many contracts for the Govt that I was able to retire nicely and took care of my crew and families of over 300 workers.

This pic was on Breitbart and a number of websites. Don't know who took it, but it looks as if they set it up to look like PDJT is being hung. Not funny.

If the Military spends money on the wall, they would first have to pick something in their budget to take the money away from.

Congress could simply deduct the amount spent from their next budget, leaving them unable to pay for whatever they took the wall money from.

So although the Military could execute the mission, they really would need the money from Congress, or it could hurt them badly elsewhere.

One significant exception that really is in play now, is that portion of the border under direct Military control - the Barry M. Goldwater Range in SW Arizona, which includes over 30 miles of International border.

Secretary of Defense Mattis is considering whether or not to pay for new Trump-style border barrier along that stretch - almost half a billion dollars.

My guess is that the decision will be delayed, until they see how the mid-term elections turn out.

The Tohono O’odham Reservation (Managed by the Department of the Interior) is not far from there, and accounts for a dis-proportionally high percentage of drug seizures. The Department of the Interior controls Indian Reservations, National Parks, and Bureau of Land Management lands along a lot of the border. Although not discussed in this article, the Department of the Interior could also build border barrier, if funded.

There is no more delay. The president said “September 30”— THIS yEAR, or he would shut down the government, It is crunch time. If he caves again, this party is in real trouble in November. We are not interested in a 30 mile strip on a military reservation. We want all 2000 miles with a massive and effective border WALL manned with thousand of agents using drones and tower and atvs. 63,000,000 clearly voted for the wall. We want the WALL!!

Sorry. It doesn’t work like that. This concept is sounding more and more sophomoric. Money has to come from somewhere. Some of us need to stop thinking like the left. Money for concrete, rebar, fuel, repair parts etc. Where does the magic army find that?
Just because Obama and the uniparty got away with spending funds extralegislately does not mean it would save and nod if Trump attempted the same. It is naivete to assume otherwise.

Have the Corps build stations and rail lines along the southern border. Stations would be used as housing and administrative offices for the Corps at first and DHS later. Rail lines provide a means of delivery for supplies, personnel, and equipment.

At a few of these stations, build a WWII style prison camp to house the illegals that we are going to send home. Offer to wipe clean the immigration record of anyone who completes X number of points. Points to be awarded for the completion of a compressed earth block used to build the wall and/or work camp support services such as laundry, cooking, etc.

In other words, use the labor of illegals to build the resources (blocks) needed to build the wall and to literally build the wall. All under the supervision of the DHS for security and Corps of Engineers for the wall itself.

Man, you still don’t get it. Okay, so we bring, say 50000 forward stationed personnel home, where do they live? Ya think we have 50k empty barracks laying around? Where does the money come from? You don’t get it. Even if 20 billion was saved, that’s yesterday money. Appropriated for a purpose. The fed budget is not like your personal one, the laws that Congress passes that carry funding are specific to the task. For instance, the army can’t spend ops money on infrastructure, or maintenance money on pay. It’s the law. Your silly “just do it” mentality betrays your ignorance. I am sure you mean well but so what. If Trump tried what you want, he would be stopped by Congress and probably the courts and should be, as he would be violating the laws of the land. Too bad they gave Obama a pass. Do you get it yet?

it’s the only way it’s getting built. Most of the GOP is against it. They are never going to fund it.

You ARE one of them aren’t you?

I tend to often attempt to adjure and entreat folks to be persuaded to see a point far longer than I should. I recognize that this is one of those cases. You have no sense of the issues, no understanding of the process required by the constitution and the laws of the land regarding fiscal powers and constraints and you are sold on a rather vague point of argument that even our president knows is a means to the end, not the end in itself. While POTUS is CinC, he is still accountable to the congress ( another “oh, well screw ‘em over that that minor point of fact too”). They want him to step in it so they can make a circus it, with the end state of him being gone.

Trump uses hyperbole to motivate. He calls people he needs to motivate silly names to get their attention, then he uses the “art of the deal” persuasion and leverage to get what he wants- it is a process, some negotiations take longer than desired for the gallery of observers.

I agree we need comprehensive/total border security. Use the military in its context, use Mexican capital/tariffs/economic leverage, use the funds we spend chasing these invaders and incarcerating them while paying them SS, use all of the above, but do it within the constitutional framework or else it will come down before it is finished.

Okay, end of lecture in Process 101.

Call you congresscritters, tell them to fund the wall. That is the best impact you will have.

regards

Trump should order the US Army to string concertina wire from coast to coast, and announce the following day that The Wall is complete. Then we can start talking about how to improve The Wall.

No kidding, I spent 12 years on the Texas border and know what it looks like. Did a stint in Arizona and it was terrible.
