The former DA in that county was Ronnie Earl, who prosecuted/persecuted such GOP luminaries as Kay Bailey Hutchison and Tom DeLay. His successor was Rosemary Lehmberg, who was convicted of a drunk driving charge in 2013. Later, the District Attorney's Office charged then Governor Rick Perry for abusing his authority in part for demanding Lehmberg's resignation.
Travis County is essentially a mini Bay Area, Cook County, or New York City infesting Central Texas. I trust nothing coming out of the DA's office there.

It’s a man’s responsibility to determine that his sex partner is 18. You can bemoan the unfairness of it til the cows come home but “she told me she was 18” is not a winning case in court. That’s why the guy fled the country.
