Grassley Crazy in Midnight Tweetstorm
Breitbart ^ | 21 Sep 2018 | Ian Mason

Posted on 09/21/2018 11:10:09 PM PDT by conservative98

UPDATE: Approximately 90 minutes after the expiration of the 10:00 p.m. deadline, Chairman Grassley took to Twitter, where he made clear that, despite his repeated extensions, he is offering yet another extension to Christine Blasey Ford’s legal team, presumably until Saturday, for her to decide whether to testify, in line with attorney Deborah Katz’s demands:

I don’t claim to speak for the 63 million voters who cast their ballot for Trump in 2016 or the millions of others who could plausibly vote for a Republican this Fall, but it sounds like you have the pulse of each and every one of them. Are you a famous political operative and/or pollster in real life? Give us a hint.

Yes, out of 600,000 registered Free Republic posters you’re the only one who sees the bullshit through the haze and speaks truth to power. Why did I not see it until now?

I think more than a few repubs are HOPING this is pushed off into after the mid-terms.

A lot of the neo-cons thinks that Trump was elected because of SCOTUS picks, I think they are trying to leverage this issue, and convince Trump that it is best if this is put off to get an additional 10% vote.

A dangerous game to be sure.

"....Anyway, the official schedule shows votes on Monday. If Ford doesn’t take advantage of the extra time, Grassley can say he went the extra mile to give her every chance to tell her story. She loses after 5-6 opportunities to come forward."

Yes it does show the committee meeting still schduled at 10am Monday. And Grassley will handle it.

Some folks seem to think personal attacks and insults (not you Reno) are a productive way to behave on the board. Feel free, but you stifle discussion rather than promote debate.

This is very much not like him. Many of us think he has been hacked.

Grassley still has a few squishy Republicans to convince.

Yup. Most of the Republican Senators are itching to vote and get it done. There are two or three who want to be seen as extending every possible concession to Ford. At this point, I think that they anticipate voting to confirm Kavanaugh, but they will insist on taking every delaying tactic at face value until the last possible moment. To reduce it to a formula: how many obvious Democrat abuses does Susan Collins need to be able to recite to feel comfortable facing down protestors at a townhall meeting in Bangor? This is hard because Susan Collins never feels comfortable about any controversial issue.

Was Grassley’s Twitter account HACKED?

Because something doesn’t sound quite right here.

He does often Tweet at odd times, like wee hours of the morning, but it is usually to hilariously criticize what’s playing on the History Channel (aliens again).

Oh wait...maybe none of his Twitter is his after all........

That’s what I was wondering, there’s no point forcing the vote if you don’t have the numbers. He can pretend like he’s doing it to give her time, well behind the scenes they are securing the nomination. At least I hope that’s what they are doing

Grassley and the pubs are creating kind and caring optics for the “Voting” pubic because this is about the mid terms as much as it is about this SC nominee.

We know they already have rounded up the votes to pass Kavanaugh if they vote on Monday. She is unwilling to testify under other and that’s what the committee is showing the Voting public. She will not appear under oath. That speak volumes.

Grassley has played this out perfectly including slow walking the Clown Roundup during the actual hearings. The voting public sees this for exactly what it is.
A political ploy. Polls show only a small number think this about Ford and her faulty memory banks.

The optics are....she is refusing to testify under oath and that’s the GOP has given her every opportunity to tell her story.

Guess she’ll have to tell it to Anderson Cooper on CBS Sunday night.

I noticed that. The one picture they use looks 30 years old - and she’s wearing sunglasses.

Gotta be a reason they’re hiding images (what? Google working behind the scenes for the Democrats? What a shock!).

Through their LONG years of “service” on various congressional committees, Republicans have learned to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They really enjoyed the relaxing 40 years they spent in the minority while letting the Democrats ruin the country.
It is a flat miracle that President Trump has achieved as much of his agenda as he has with these lazy GOP figureheads in charge. The one thing they are steadfast about opposing is the building of the Trump Security Wall. We need one more wave of retirements to replace these fossils with Trump-style achievers who will consent to give the President and the people this signature victory.

“You forget the Democrats like Manchin in VERY red states that’ll feel pressure to confirm Kavanaugh.”

I’m not forgetting that at all. McCaskill was on that list up until a couple days ago when she came out and said she is a NO vote on Kavanaugh. That leaves just three: Manchin, Donnelly, and Heitkamp. I think Heitkamp will be a NO vote, as well.

The final vote is going to be a “real sweater.”

He needs to do that today-—Saturday.

Can someone e-mail that to the White House?
