Trump 2020?
The Resurgent ^ | October 5, 2018 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 10/06/2018 3:14:03 PM PDT by Behind the Blue Wall

I have long been critical of Republicans who abandoned principles to stand with Trump and I am as critical of Republicans who abandon principles to oppose Trump. Principle should stay because people go. The Kavanaugh nomination has been clarifying in this regard. Seeing some conservatives willing to aid and abet character assassins because Trump nominated Kavanaugh is disgusting.

I find myself in an odd position where, for the first time, I see myself, one of the original so-called “Never Trump conservatives,” voting for President Trump in 2020. I have inevitably concluded at times that Trump would do something to push me away from him. He has not disappointed on that front from tariffs to character issues. But now I do not see how anyone else can offer a more compelling alternative to the President. Each time the President does something I do not like, his opponents play a game of “hold my beer.”

. . .

The political press has behaved as co-conspirators with the Democrats in the Kavanaugh matter. They have clearly been fully co-opted. Reporters are planting their flags with the so-called Resistance and donning pink hats instead of defending truth and reporting facts. There is much in this present political age about which I am uncertain. But there is one thing about which I am absolutely certain. President Trump is not my enemy and too many progressives view me as theirs.

Those of you that think Trump won’t run again really don’t understand Trump at all. Nothing will prevent him from running again. You think a woman is going to stop him? It is to laugh.

“Whoever the next president is after Trump, he or she will be so incredibly boring it will be painful to watch. Like a bland folk singer taking the stage after The Who played three hours and left their instruments smashed all over the stage.”

That is incredibly true. If it is Pence, they’re going to have to inject him with crack several times a day, just to be sure that he’s still alive. That being said, any of the Republicans will be better than any of the Democrats in 2024, and in any other year.

Rush wouldn't be able to handle the blow-back.

FU EE. Get lost, snowflake. I was forced to listen to his crappy radio show in Atl a couple days ago and all he does is complain how no ATLANTA newspaper will carry his crappy column. Why does anyone pay attention to this blowhard?

I’m happy the never Trumpers have come home.

I'm not! Now we'll have to be watching our backs with those pukes inside the wire. They wanna back the President, fine. But don't expect us to let them have their old positions back or pay them any mind. Just have 'em sit down and shut up!

I wouldn’t trust Erickson with a burnt-out match, much less trust his future op-eds.

Erik - when Trump runs in 2020, join me in making the maximum allowable donations to his campaign....

And there is also Steve Schmidt, who insisted that Donald Trump was not a real Republican.

All of your points can be explained with this.

I’m in the NE. I hate this place. Well, I love the place - it’s beautiful (Well.. sorta. I mean, it’s about half a dump. Like a 1990’s Detroit) so I can explain it in a way that others can’t.

Donald Trump is a New Yorker.

New Yorkers and New Jerseyites are simply the worst.

I’m from New York myself. I’ve been aware of Trump for a long time. He did a lot of good for teh city.

Still, those things were concerning to many conservatives. Remember Trump saying, “It’s the Republican Party, not the Conservative Party”?

But his performance in office has put most of those to rest. But it does explain why some consrvatives were skeptical about him.

Trump has a done a lot of good everywhere he’s gone.

He’s not a nice guy though. He’s also not a hardcore Constitutional Patriot. If he was, he wouldn’t live in NYC. Conservativism can’t exist in the city.

It barely exists out in the country, but that’s a topic for a different day.

A Northeastern Conservative is hardly that.

Don’t forget “Republican” Ana “La Cerdita” Navarro who seems to be backing the likes of Andrew Gillum and Bacon Bits Bob O’Rourke.

As for “principles” my top “principle” was having Lady Liberty put her undies back on, dust off, and and stab the demorats right in the junk the next time they tried to bend her over a desk, and Trump has done that. If Erick still doesn’t understand that he go suck an egg. I’ll except nothing but a full apology for his failure to help stop Hillary.
