PURE LUCK! LOL
Gettin’ a bit nippy up there these days, isn’t it? Just thinking about temps in the 30s gives me goosebumps. BRRR!
Hi Everybody!
((((HUGS)))
Howdy, lauren! Late to the party as usual! Hope you weren’t TOO busy today.
Thanks for a another great road trip to S. Carolina!
Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
Did you make it safely through Monday?
Howdy, LUV.
Made it home safe and sound I assume. Were the kittehs happy to see you? Peaches in the house bugging you this evening?
Fall/Winter has still been kind of Spring/Summer. The weather is supposed to change next week. I’d better buy boots — fast.
Hey, there, radu!
Yep, got home without incident. Except for the hard heavy rain that hit just before I got to Big Spring...60 miles away. Couldn’t see the stripes on the roadway! But, everyone slowed down. Except for one truck that I passed that had jackknifed in the inner lane. No one hurt though.
Peaches has been very sweet this evening. Very needy. LOL! It was good to see him, but I kind of hope he goes out overnight. LOL!
How was your day? Has it cooled down some? Do you expect to get rain bands from Michael?
Glad you made it through that downpour safely. It is NOT fun trying to drive when you can’t see. Glad no one was hurt when the truck jackknifed.
Heeheehee, I figured Peaches would spend the evening letting you know he wasn’t happy about you deserting him. Good luck getting him to go out!
It’s still pretty toasty here though a stiff breeze kept it from being totally miserable outside. One more hot day, then we start cooling off. We’ll have rain Wed. but it’ll be due more to the cold front coming through than the hurricane. Michael will come close enough to add to it though. I’m keeping a close eye on its path since my step-mother is just outside Ft. Walton Beach.
Oh, my goodness! That’s not a good place to be right now. I’ve heard that they’ve started some mandatory evacuations along the Gulf coast. Does she have someplace to go if need be?
I hope you do get some cooler weather. It’s long overdue! I think this has been the never-ending summer! LOL!
It’s 65 here right now and I just heard thunder. Hubby said we got 1/2” of rain from that storm I was driving in. Add that to the 2” that fell Saturday. Good stuff!
I’ve heard about the evacuations, too, but don’t know if Ft. Walton is listed. As for her leaving, it will depend on whether or not one of her friends will get her out of there. She’s wheelchair-bound due to MS and can’t drive.
Knowing her, she’ll insist on staying put. The house is built on a high spot and didn’t flood when Opal flooded the rest of the area in the ‘90s. As long as the gas lines aren’t messed up, there’s a generator to keep the house going. Dad had that put in before he died.
I’ve emailed her because she rarely answers the phone. She has difficulty talking. Her caregiver is a rude b**** so I just don’t call any more.
We’re more than ready for some fall temps. They SAY our high Fri. will only be in the upper 60s and Sat. will be a hair warmer. Beautiful weather for a day at the museum as that front room won’t be hot.
Y’all got some good rain the past couple of days! ‘But time! Too bad it couldn’t have come sooner when the farmers needed it for crops though.
I hope she’ll be safe. Does she have neighbors that will look in on her?
She should be ok. She and Dad have ridden out several hurricanes in the years they were down there. I only recall them leaving once and that was simply due to the possibility of power loss. I believe that was when Opal went through. They did a lot of research before building the current house and chose the spot specifically because Opal didn’t flood it.
She does have wonderful neighbors who keep tabs on her but if they leave, that won’t do much good. One might force her to take off with them so she won’t be there alone, and I hope they do. They keep upping the ante on Michael with each update I hear. Could be a bear when it hits.
Stationed there from 85 - 89. 44th SMW (now deactivated) and 4th ACCS West Aux (now deactivated) under the 28th BW.
Best duty station ever.
Not too bad...but a new wrinkle. *sigh* They’ve instituted a new system...every correction or inquiry, paper, phone, email, requires a “ticket”. So it takes 3 times longer, at least, to open a ticket. And I assigned my own to me. Then you do your thing, and then go close the ticket. AND, no one told me HOW to open or close a ticket.
So I got Ruthe to give me some instructions....what a pain in the butt. Of course this really helps the already lack of time.
You’d mentioned last week that there was a new “thing” thrown at you by the boss when she was there. She needs a 2x4 taken to her head for never telling you HOW to use the things she expects you to use.
Retirement looks better every day, I’d say. LOL
S. Carolina????
I mean S. Dakota, of course. I’m punchy. LOL!
My “goal” has been 2020, but this weekend I’ve really been thinking more seriously. d:o)
I visited my son and his wife several times when they lived in Port. St. John, and I noticed all the newer houses were built WAY better than the older ones. I guess they’ve learned some stuff about hurricanes. LOL!
Peaches is out. Now maybe I can get some sleep.....poor ol’ guy!
That's what I was thinking when I mentioned it. :-)
