President Donald Trump drew an enthusiastic response from a law-and-order crowd Monday, advocating the use of stop and frisk policing and saying he has directed the Justice Department to work with local officials in Chicago to stem violence in the nations third-largest city.
The crime spree is a terrible blight on that city, he said at a convention of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
Trump said he had ordered Attorney General Jeff Sessions to immediately go to Chicago to help straighten out the terrible shooting wave. He also encouraged the city to embrace the stop-and-frisk policing method, in which large numbers of people are temporarily detained, questioned and sometimes searched for drugs and weapons. It was used extensively in New York City until it was deemed unconstitutional because of its overwhelming impact on minority residents. Gotta be properly applied, but stop-and-frisk works, said Trump, who had traveled to Orlando with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
Chicago police said last week that there have been 102 fewer homicides and nearly 500 fewer shooting victims in the city this year, compared with the first nine months of 2017. The city of Chicago reached an agreement with the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois in 2015 to curb stop-and-frisk procedures after the ACLU threatened to file a lawsuit over the issue. The ACLU said the police inordinately targeted blacks.
A spokesman for Mayor Rahm Emanuel blasted Trump for reviving criticism of the citys homicide rate and the agreement with the ACLU. Even someone as clueless as Donald Trump has to know stop-and-frisk is simply not the solution to crime, Matt McGrath said in an emailed statement.

Oh, wait, that was Fake News? Glad I don't live in Chicago.
Fourth Amendment The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized - unless, of course, the searches and seizures are done in polite and non-stressful manners so as not to scar someone for life.
Stop and Frisk, based on valid, observable actions, does work, and it works well.
No felony is allowed to be in possession of a weapon. Period.
Who do you think is doing much of the killing in Chicago, the Nuns? Black gangs, Hispanic gangs, and the oh-so-deadly Chicago Amish.
You get the felons with weapons off the streets and a lot of the killings will stop. PERIOD.
The American Criminal Liberties Union is the best friend that the street thugs ever had, and the worst enemy of law enforcement.
#8. No, not Midnight Basketball. It will be called “Midnight Dodge the Bullet Games”.
you speak too fast without knowing the situations
are you really young?
Cause young kids I’d expect that from Not knowing the situations.
If you are a child, go to bed :)
#5. It has been along time since my classes in Law Enforcement but some of the legal weapons in the hands of the police until the ACLU forced most departments to cowardly cave in, included:
1. Furtive glances - as in afraid of seeing the police, acting as a “lookout” at a potential or real crime scene
2. Noticeable bulge in coat or pants pocket, usually on the right side (most criminals are right handed and that is where they keep their gun).
3. A group of convicted juveniles and/or felons gathered in a huddle or late at night when everyone else is at home.
4. Strangers showing up in a neighborhood (when the cops knew who lived there and who didn’t), esp. late at night.
5. Cars cruising an area, esp. late at night (drive-by shootings, smash and grab robberies, store robberies, drug deals)
6. General nervousness when there is no visible cause for it.
7. Cars driving around without their headlights on.
8. Obscured license plates, broken lights, etc.
There were more but I’ve forgotten them.
I am watching LivePD on A&E, mostly to get updated on police actions in the real world. I am shocked how many things the cops have added to that list.
Not just furtive looks, but furtive movements and the smell of marijuana. K9 use is rampant and a dog detecting is grounds for a search of the entire vehicle. Crazy stuff.
I would love to see some of radical activist judges try to overrule the Supremes or any more of Trump’s executive orders. I wish the Supremes had the power to immediately remove the offending judge from his bench.
Stop-and-Frisk works. No, it’s not perfect; nothing is.
But. It. Works.
Cop instincts are real, and they know at a glance when somebody is definitely hinky. Yes, “not all cops are good!” blah blah blah.
But. It. Works.
“The Perfect” is often the enemy of the “Very Good.” Common refuge of those without enough experience and education to have, well, common sense.
Maybe we should build a wall...
Cabrini went into the shit-heap of history many years ago.
There’s no there there.
Yes, the problem is that the criminals are armed and the good hard-working people of Chicago are forcibly disarmed.
The ACLU doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

They know it. They are squealing because they know they can make money off of this.
He would need a time machine. Cabrini aint no more.
Outlaw clothing and make daily flights with a cropduster spreading Prozac. Problem solved.
I lived in Manhattan for about 4 years in the 90's and the murder rate exceeded 2,000 when Rudy got elected and started 'stop and frisk', got rid of the 'windshield washers' from every corner, prosecuted drug crimes, in other words, "Law and Order".
The number of murders is NY today is a couple of hundred, not a couple of thousand.
It works, every time it's tried, and the SCOTUS disagrees with your version of your 'rights'. Are you a lawyer? If you are, go back to night school.
SCOTUS disagrees with your version of your ‘rights’.
SCOTUS is wrong. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
> I guess innocent until proven guilty isnt a thing here anymore like its been the last few weeks <
Good point. And yes, I agree with you. Absent probable cause, people have a right to be left alone.
Rham Emanuel, has the distinct attribute of being the least caring person of black lives in America. Thousands die on his watch and he does nothing.
“Whadda ya gonna do? Kids.”
Sorry, I didn't mean to argue with a man that declares that SCOTUS is wrong, and that I should resort to smoking a pipe.
You are one smart dude, have you been lurken around the maryjane plants?
I apologize oh master.
Piss off, mate.
