A top Republican lawmaker said Sunday that the FBI failed to provide a federal surveillance court with evidence that “directly” contracted the bureau’s rationale for opening the Trump-Russia investgation Rep. John Ratcliffe told Fox News that the evidence related to former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos The FBI opened its investigation in July 2016 based on intelligence from the Australian government about Papadopoulos

Republican lawmakers have hinted for months that the FBI failed to provide federal judges on the surveillance court with information that undercut the government’s premise for opening the Trump-Russia probe in 2016.

Republicans have suggested in interviews that the information related to George Papadopoulos, the former Trump campaign adviser whose conversation with an Australian diplomat prompted the FBI to open its investigation into the Trump campaign.

Texas Rep. John Ratcliffe provided Sunday the clearest picture to date of what the FBI allegedly withheld from the surveillance court.

Ratcliffe suggested that the FBI failed to include evidence regarding former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, in an interview with Fox News.

Omitting or actively hiding exculpatory evidence is Standard Operating Procedure for the FBI. Has been for decades.

The FBI’s FISA applications also referred to Papadopoulos, but the documents are so heavily redacted that it is not clear why he is mentioned.

Other Republican lawmakers have hinted that intelligence exists which exonerates Papadopoulos, who has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about contacts he had with a Maltese professor named Joseph Mifsud.

Ratcliffe said that declassification of a batch of FBI and Justice Department documents “would corroborate” his claims about the Papadopoulos intelligence.

First I’ve heard of Papadapoulis being mentioned in the FISA on Carter Page. This is BIGLY. Another piece.

There was no premise for the “Russia Probe” — At all.

It is a coup by the corrupt state. Nothing short of treason trials and mass hangings on the national mall can right this ship now.

Trump will not declassify, so it’s on him.

Leverage makes sense why he does not declassify info that is damaging
to Rat Rosenweasel.
Leverage does not explain declassifying info that clears himself.

Theories:

1) He’s literally under the gun

2) He’s using it(FISA docs, etc) to prevent Mueller from dropping the impeachment report before the elections

3) The DOJ is openly defying President Trump and they’re refusing to declassify or release the docs.

Yes, but Trump’s lawyers insist, insist, on acting as if the Mueller investigation were legitimate, rather than telling Mueller to go pound sand.

I wish they would be more specific for the politically novices!!!

WHAT is this evidence?

I have an idea its all the facts about how they set him up, and others, working for Obama, told him the Russians had damning material on Clinton. Pap didn’t make it up, or learn it from any Russian or Trump official, he was fed this info from the corrupt FBI/CIA Deep State in order to facilitate a FISA warrant.

The story should prominently say so!

Sure it does. In any case, what makes you think that the enemedia and their fellow Never Trumpers will put any faith in anything exculpatory?

I don’t care when Trump declassifies anymore as long as delaying means he continues to have the Spygate perps by their short hairs.

“Against who...his own Justice Dept? “

Sessions did enormous damage to Trump’s presidency. He is/was the insurance policy. Supported and backed by the GOP.

The reason why we’re so FUBARed.
