Yep, I agree with all 3 you mention, especially Morgan

When it comes to talking Military History I’ll call them like I see them. In no measure of brilliance, humanity, or gentleman’s honor was ANY yankee equal to Robert E. Lee.

You probably think Montgomery was Patton’s equal too. In a hog’s eye!

Morgan was brilliant throughout the war, from Canada, Saratoga, through the south, but Cowpens was above it all. An incredible victory. He’s one of my top favorites.

“When it comes to talking Military History I’ll call them like I see them.”

Calling people stupid Yankees or some goofball nonsense about not liking southern gentlemen becausethey make a non-personal critique about Lee, is you sounding like some unhinged hayseed trope.

I can eaisly make the same statement about McClellan and not get some fool from Pennsylvania going off the deep end like they have been slighted persinally.

My DAR wife had an ancestor at Cowpens. We walked it and have a Cowpens print hanging on our family room wall.

I also have a Cowpens battle ancestor . He went on to be severely wounded by the saber strike of one of Tarleton’s cavalry at the battle of Guilford Courthouse . Surviving the war to accorded a heroe’s reward of a land tract in the war western wilderness , now known as Tennessee . There establishing first a family farm , then a trading post and finally allowing the incorporation of what grew to become a well known TN small city . History is an interesting thing .

Calling people stupid Yankees
................................
Never called you a stupid yankee. I called you a damn yankee so stick to the facts and don’t let your thin skin show.
McClellan or any other Yankee General in no way reaches the level of Robert E. Lee.
You have a lot to learn about Military History.

Fantastic. I visit battlefields consistently and always enjoy the learning experience. Antietam was closest to me but I’ve been to almost all sites including Cowpens. Love the WWI and WWII battlefields in Europe. If only Military History were truly taught in schools.

You should write a book. What a story!

i have always felt an unsung hero of the Revolution was Amiral de Grasse. Whipping the English at the Chesapeake certainly sealed Cornwallis’ fate. We never hear his name.

Highly recommend Barbara Tuchman’s “First Salute” about French involvement in our Revolutionary War in the context of their European politics and battles.

Ok. WHATEVER! It still sounded really retarded, and you still sound like some hick with a Lee fetish more than someone that can converse about this topic.

We studied and visited antietam during my advance course years ago. Cowpens, though, was personal.

Seriously, you should give some thought to a book. History is, after all, an unending story. Shiloh was indeed an incredible battle. Write two books!

Thanks for the book recommendation. I enjoy her work, especially The Guns of August.Having lived in France a considerable time I have done a lot of research into French History. Am currently working on a novel which takes place in the First WW. The characters are fictional but the major happenings are all authentic as to place and time. Love researching in the French Archives. The personnel are always outstanding and immensely helpful.
