Why Is Khashoggi Being Made The Defining Issue Of U.S. Foreign Policy?
The Federalist ^ | October 19, 2018 | Ben Weingarten

Posted on 10/19/2018 4:13:16 PM PDT by detective

Why has the media and much of the political establishment made the presumed murder of an Islamist Saudi dissident on Turkish soil a defining issue in American foreign policy?

Jamal Khashoggi is not a U.S. citizen, despite his past residence in Virginia, nor is he a lover of liberty, despite his criticism of Saudi Arabia’s despotic regime. He previously served that regime as a mouthpiece for, and adviser to, the alleged al-Qaeda-tied Saudi intelligence leader Turki bin Faisal. Khashoggi mourned the death of Osama bin Laden, whom Khashoggi had been granted unusual levels of access for numerous interviews. Khashoggi was also an ardent proponent of political Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Needless to say, one wonders why Khashoggi was permitted to enter the United States and handed a column at The Washington Post given this background, particularly at a time our media claims acute sensitivity to foreign influence. One also wonders why so many in the media are quick to fawn over such a figure given his regressive views.

What sticks out is why suddenly all MSM care about death of a Saudi???..... along with 22 deep state congressional leaders who signed that letter...Especially Corker and Mendez.....

This is just a yet another leftist tactic to control the press and distract before the Mid-terms..... and their criminal activity overall..

Khashoggi was a bad guy and enemy of the Sauds....besides we knock off people it’s just called mysterious suicides and accidents.

Deep connections with Washington Post.....his few writings were for public influence and power..and the Post liked his $$$$$...Washington Post will need to find a new patron....He was muslim brotherhood, which exists to rid the Islamic world of western influence, and since Sauds king has been trying to bring more wester influence into the kingdom...that will always raise the hair of the muslim brotherhood who are all about getting wester ideas and influence out of the East.

>> “I was thinking the same thing. And even the possibility that he sits alive rotting in a Saudi prison, between daily interrogations.”

> Best technique ever. Let him watch the news to see that everyone thinks he’s already dead... Wow!

Not only is that the ultimate demoralizer for Cash-Hoagie, but the KSA understands that it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission. “Oh, so sorry he already died...Mulligan!!”

The question is....whose power? Turkey and Russia have been very cozy lately, add Iran to the mix and you have a pretty toxic brew.

MBS is diving SA toward a glimmer of modernity and he made a lot of enemies within the family. Very rich, very connected. I think he was set up.

Completely agree. Those are definitely the right questions to ask.

An example of his “reporting”.

It’s almost like Al-Qaeda and the media get their marching orders from the same paymaster.

I think that this need more coverage. Can we get some more journalists in Saudi Embassies to investigate?

Because he is actually Archduke Ferdinand of Herzegovina also, in addition to being Muslim Brotherhood stooge, a Washington Post “reporter” who wrote few if any stories, and BFF of the late OBL.

To get at MBS (and incidentally, Trump). The deep state (e,g,, the CIA, Brennan, etc.) were much more comfortable with the Prince that MBS replaced as heir apparent - Prince Nayef. CIA and Nayef were chuchely-muchely. The deep state would be happy if MBS would go away and the royals the CIA had been accustomed to working with would be re-instated.

Note: it has been reported that US intelligence had picked up intercepts that the Saudi regime was planning to off Khashoggi, but did not warn him.

Journalist? Why would the Saudis go to this extreme for a mere reporter? His story needs to be know.

One simple question: WHY should we care?
IF the Saudis REALLY did it to one of their own citizens, inside their own embassy, for whatever reasons they may have had, IT’S NONE OF OUR BUSINESS!
This raghead was NOT a US CITIZEN, he was a Saudi Citizen, a member of the MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD, not a friend of the US.
The Saudis cleaning up their own agitators and saboteurs is their business, NOT OURS.

Yes, but Khashoggi was a columnist for the Compost, so the Fake News is acting like he’s the most important person who has ever been killed. And somehow it’s all Trump’s fault.

Bump for the best analysis to date of what’s really going on here.

For those who didn’t click through and read the entire column, I strongly recommend doing so.

Jamal Khashoggi is not a U.S. citizen - he’s a Muslim Brotherhood thug....

When the press gives a damn about Americans murdered by illegals then MAYBE we’ll give a damn about Khashoggi’s death.-

Until then, eff off crybabies - fewer journalist working in the US are killed than almost any country in the world... isn’t that similar to what journalists say about Americans killed by illegals? As a percentage more are killed by natives? Like it’s only a ‘numbers’ issue?
