Depopulating Africa through various schemes has been bandied around by the UN and other similarly skeevy organizations.

Well that’s nutty. They can’t feed and give the ones they have a decent education, way of life, or in most cases, even a clean drink of water.

So what’s the argument that they should have more?

This article is nonsense. African overpopulation is indeed a significant threat literally to the entire planet, including the environment. Africa is on track to surpass the Chinese. Once this happens, or perhaps far sooner, mass starvation and war will drive hundreds of millions of Africans into Europe, Africans who—if they were placed back into the stone ages—would not reinvent the wheel.

It’s not racism. It’s not anti-child. It’s simply reality.

What Africa needs is a stop of all aid and to allow nature to take its course. Under our do-gooderism, the problem has only become so huge that the crash is going to be catastrophic in terms of human life. But it is going to happen regardless, and further supporting it will do nothing but delay the inevitable while bankrupting us.

The poorest people tend to have the highest birth rates

Clearly, empirically, verifiably true. Or, stated another (more accusatory) way: the people least able to afford children are those most likely to have them.

well, in the name of self-determination, perhaps Joy Pullman will agree that Africans should accept no foreign aid, money or food. But if Africans are hell-bent on self-determination, why are they flooding Europe looking for an easy ride?

The thing is, Africans have their hands out to every major country in the world. Including china. But foreign aid comes with conditions. People don’t give their money expecting no return. Gates is no different. He’s invested millions in anti-poverty measures for Africa and other countries. With not much to show for it. I can see him becoming a bit disillusioned as he comes down from his rose-colored cloud.

but it does seem a bit elitist of Joy Pullman to think that in an age where the world has been warned to control the population and ‘save the earth,’ where water and farmable land is becoming scarce, that Africans (and Latinx) should be able to ignore or skate around any sacrifices that the rest of the world is making. What makes them so special?

Sounds like Nazism to me. I liked this quote:

"mothering a large family is not necessarily in conflict with equal rights for the sexes unless you assume that raising children is inherently undignified and inconsequential compared to, say, working for an employer or sitting in a classroom. Many women feel that in guiding family life they find far higher freedom and self-fulfillment than if bound to an employer."

Greatness is within a few of them and I don’t mean the ones who kneel at the national anthem or people like Martin Luther Kink who has been made into a God by the media. Certainly not The Rev. Al.

They are just ordinary people who raise their children to love God and to respect authority. I met one from Ghana who was a better person than me and he also felt the same way I do about the ones who benefit by stirring hatred.

Now the bad ones I hope will never be conceived.

no problem.     but if cankles were elected, you'd have to be sent to a re-education camp.

Humankind will never ever be able to fix this.

I think you mean to say that non-Africans will never be able to solve this problem.

I think the best outcome (which will never, ever happen by the way) is to let the continent of Africa be solely for the Africans, with all non-Africans banned or barred from going there. No trade, no exchanges, no travel, nothing.

Africa will then revert to what it used to be, a brutish, barbaric place with natural population controls. Africa cannot be fixed, so leave it be.

However, greed being what it is, and with the resources Africa has, this reversion back to its historic situation will not happen and non-Africans won't be able to keep away. What has been done cannot be undone.

Maybe it has little to do with IQ, but a lot to do with opportunity and the resources available to those who might have the talent to succeed.

Telling them to have fewer children doesn’t seem to solve anything. Gates needs to put his money where his mouth is, and support these people instead of criticizing them and their culture.

Teach Africans how to get out of poverty and the children issue would take care of itself.

That’s absolutely untrue.

Political systems with no recognition of private property rights are the cause of poverty.

I have also met African people who were idealistic, very committed, and hard-working.

It’s kind of hard to get anywhere when the rest of the world is exploiting and using your countries, and what ‘help’ that comes along is greedy, cynical and politically motivated.

The people who have done the most good in Africa have probably been Christian missionaries.

If you can’t support children, don’t have them. Skin color and geography notwithstanding.

I ain't buyin' it.

some call africa the "Cradle of civilization."

they've always had the opportunity and resources at hand to create a great place, but have failed UTTERLY.

something else is going on there.

And do you think it’s just that they are ‘stupid’ and incapable? Or do you think that there might be other forces at work?

Children are a major cause of poverty. Everywhere.

Maybe poverty is the cause of large numbers of children.
As a survival strategy, poverty and low life expectancy make it necessary to have more children.
