If the West does nothing further for the African continent, certain areas of Africa would benefit learning about basic hygiene and Universal Precautions.
Late this past Summer, there was a new outbreak of the Ebola Virus. Kinshsa-Congo area, I believe. There was not much press about it. We Americans were locked into that Supreme Court Battle Royale since late August.The local authorities are concerned because many infected corpses of people dead from Ebola have been stolen by the families of the infected.
The families are angry about burial rituals not being observed or respected.
Until we can convince certain area in Africa about the deadly nature of this and similar diseases, the new outbreak is destined to keep on spreading.
One of the popes in recent decades said, “You cannot forbid the poor to be born.” Such an eloquent statement. But I couldn’t find it on Google. If someone has a deeper search talent, maybe you can find out which pope it was. I tend to think John Paul II. Or possibly John XXIII.

So implies “The Bell Curve.” It doesn’t come out and say that in so many words but the IQ graphs tell a horrible story. At least a standard deviation from the mean.
The real issue is not the birthrate of Africans but the drastic decline in the Death Rate through the adoption or usage of Western medicine.
Unfortunately, this has a lot to do with IQ. Low IQ is directly associated with a whole host of social problems.
In an increasingly technological world requiring more intelligence those a standard deviation below the mean are in trouble no matter the “solutions” to low-IQ related problems.
The Bell Curve caused an uproar when was published. The authors were respected members of the academic community and hated to reveal the problem of IQ distributions. But they had hundreds of studies on the issue to verify their conclusions.
Maybe you can’t forbid them, but you can (and should) encourage them not to.

Thank you. I fully agree that the article is garbage, and I am an actual African (not American Black, African). Pure unadulterated garbage, and written by someone who has NO IDEA what the poor people in Africa, Latin America and Asia go through, and how the large number of children they tend to have perpetuate that poverty. The author simply has no idea what he/she is talking about, and it is truly mind boggling how he/she spouts forth commentary that is misguided and tacitly dangerous.
It’s one thing to say the West and Japan should have more children, but it’s another to say that the world’s poor should continue having more kids than they can support.
If a society vanishes, it certainly can’t be poor because it does not exist to be poor.
But that’s a ridiculous reductionism. We ultimately have a spiritual problem here. The missionary continues to be a far better answer than the family planner, but that’s if the missionary teaches Christ, not just religion.

we got a philosophical problem here. the best black families (financially rich or not) will home school and route around the social garbage that way.
