Jonah marches further toward irrelevance.

Would he be writing this if HRC were elected?

This putz doesn’t like deplorables. What a surprise. Stop blinking on tv, Jonah, and wash your hair once in a while.

I have to admit, watching Barry Obama being forced to face Question Time would have been fun.

Whatever..
I voted republican only because Sarah Palin was on the Ticket

I voted republican only because Trump was on the ticket.

People matter.

To leave the President to be elected by the ‘leaders’ of the party is how they do it in the EU, and results in the feeling that the vote doesn’t matter.

Oh, wait.. I just figured out the author is an Euro-weeny.

There is only one potential upside to a parliamentary system of government and that is you have multiple parties instead of a two party system. However even in this system the minor parties need to form a coalition and you basically devolve into two parties.

"The 17th amendment required that senators be elected by voters, not state legislatures. The 19th amendment allowed women to vote."

Well, there's strike one and strike two....

When I saw the author, I forced myself to read it, thinking maybe, he’d make some sense. Nope.

Still just a sore loser, Never Trump Moron.

Whole article is about the Republican’s winning the election so they could have elected, Jeb, and stacked all the leadership with Thune, Cornyn, Issacson, Corker, Flake, Rubio...basically everyone Donald J Trump bitch slapped on his way to the White House, thank the Lord.

Of course Jonah wants a parliamentary system, so they could do a motion of non-confidence to depose Trump.

"Our system was designed for the people on the ground"

Our Republic was designed for a religious, God fearing people.. None other need apply...

Heck, they revere the Constitution even when they don’t know what it says. More than a third of Americans surveyed by the Annenberg Center for Public Policy in 2017 couldn’t name a single freedom enumerated in the First Amendment. Only 26 percent could name all three branches of government, and 33 percent couldn’t name a single branch.

Ummmm...seems the problem is with education, not voters! For a smart man, Goldberg can be pretty stupid.

I support the assumption of full plenary powers , to President Trump , for a period of an additional 10 years . Keep America Great! ( and screw Congress and liberal judges )

"A failure to teach civics, a breakdown of civil society and the institutions that traditionally keep politics local.

There is nothing in the Constitution requiring two parties.

The left can’t get the votes to change the constitution to suit them so the hell with the constitution. Simple as that.

A smug, very supercilious & superficial patronization, by one who is confused & off the mark in what he writes. That our educational system in contemporary America has turned out a population that is politically less informed than that of the 1840s is truly sad; but Jonah does not really show any depth of understanding of either the causation, or any acceptable alternative.

The piece is nothing but a distraction from the focus necessary to bring out the Conservative vote, next Tuesday. That must be our focus for the weekend!
