Seadorf grabbed his registered 9-millimeter handgun and headed towards the screams. Registered? Okay MO FReepers, is that a requirement there? Or is it the typical lame stream lie to make folks think firearms MUST be "registered". Thank you sir for your quick action.

If you’re thinking feral-American, you’re correct.

Me thinks said author is a clueless bafoon, who knows squat about gun ownership in MO. I've never had to "register" any firearm I've bought (assuming I've ever bought one), whether it was through an FFL or a private sale. I did have to get a CCW license pre universal CCW, which passed 3 or so years ago.

Maybe the author knows of some secret program that allows people to voluntarily pre-confiscation "register" their guns in order to make the government's job easier?

I think the pistol pictured is a S&W M&P .380 EZ. Not a 9mm unless you call it 9mm Short, Corto or Kurz.

Carrying a firearm does NOT make someone “feral”

The attacker not the armed citizen.

There is no firearms registration in MO. They may have confused that with a CCW license, which is no longer mandatory either as long as you remain in the state. A Missouri CCW is recognized by about 2/3 of the other states. That’s the advantage of having one.

I’m thinking lazy and ignorant. Wouldn’t take much to do it right. But that might take some effort on the journalists part.

From the late 1870s until the advent of the 2005 concealed carry endorsement, there was a requirement for anyone purchasing a handgun to get a “permit to acquire” from their local Sherriff. Jim Crow at its finest. The Modern 2005 CCW permit/license process did away with that. There is no recording of what concealed weapon one may carry other with or w/o a CCW license ( there are lots of benefits of having the CCW license, and no real drawbacks in MO. Records of the permit are closed to anyone w/o a court order ( other than your sheriff) and it is recognized by 38 other sates. The semi- constitutional carry (permit-less is good, but requires folks to mind the posted signs whereas a license holder can pretty much ignore such baloney, only federal restrictions and court houses etc are actually off limits with legal ramifications), plus having documented training and a permit often makes a difference in how a shooting is looked at by media and LE/DA etc. Shows good faith.
