Florida has approved an amendment that will automatically restore voting rights to more than a million people previously convicted of felonies.
Felons who finish their full sentences, including fines, probation and parole, will now be allowed to vote in the state. The new law does not apply to anyone convicted of murder or sex offenses.
Florida's Amendment 4 passed Tuesday after exceeding the 60% threshold required to become a law.
When it goes into effect, an estimated 1.5 million people in Florida who have completed felony sentences but have not been able to vote could show up to the polls, according to the nonprofit Sentencing Project.
That's a quarter of the total number of people nationwide who are forbidden to vote because of a felony conviction.

Florida just won every Demonrat election for the next 20 years.
I am of the opinion that anyone who is a ward of the state - mental patient, prisoner, parole, ANYONE who can not be trusted to manage their own life unsupervised and without state control and/or support .... should not be allowed to vote.
If the felon serves their time (not while on parole) and has fully repaid their debt to society, then yes, they can be allowed to vote again.
Who would vote for that? I know it is a dumb question but really are there that many ex felons or stupid people in Florida..
How many will get picked up and sent back into the system? They need an amendment already that states repeat felony offenders will lose their reinstated voting privileges for life.
Agree, no scarlet letter BS. Once someone has served their sentence ALL rights should be restored. Including 2nd Amendment rights.
Not that I agree with it, but the amendment only extends to non-violent felons. Murderers and rapists are excluded.
I’ve been saying all day that this is going to turn Florida from purple to blue by 2024.
1,500,000+ felons just in Florida?
amazing all by itself
and we suppose Florida is not converted into a solid D state? just by letting criminals vote... wow! very clever indeed
There was a process in place for this. There was no need to intervene.
Well thats fun. Good job majority of the Florida voting population
Losing the right to vote is part of the “debt.”
Enjoy yesterday because that may be the last one we win for in Fla.
There are A LOT of ex-felons in Florida. For whatever reason the day their parole ends they make a beeline for the Sunshine State.
“Florida just won every Demonrat election for the next 20 years.”
LOL right. Like these guys are people who vote...or have ever voted? Give me an eff’n break.
The League of Women voters was pushing hard on this.
And you should have seen the ads supporting it. A good looking, clean cut, blond haired, blue eyed guy and his preppy, adorable wife sitting at the table in a beautiful house with an adorable baby lamenting the fact that he was an ex-felon and couldn’t vote.
Blame the crappy schools for people falling for this BS.
Florida Man shall not be disenfranchised!
Don’t worry, I am sure as part of their parole they will be forced to vote or get a lighter sentence if they agree to vote. Bank on some lefty Judge conjuring that one up.

Oh, I don’t know. They will probably be too busy committing new felonies to vote.
