Sen. Tom Cotton, Arkansas Republican, said Wednesday GOP senators will work through New Years Eve to confirm all of President Trumps pending judicial nominees before the end of the year if Democrats try to obstruct the confirmation votes.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican, has made it a priority to remake the federal bench with a conservative bent, and has more than 40 judicial nominees awaiting floor votes.
Before leaving Capitol Hill prior to the midterms, Republicans vowed to get them all confirmed once they returned during the lame duck session before the incoming Congress begins in January.
I know that Senator McConnell has made a commitment that were not going to leave any judges behind over these next two months, the Arkansas Republican told conservative host Hugh Hewitt on Wednesday.
He said Democrats have shown unprecedented obstruction, demanding the maximum amount of floor time to debate the presidents judicial picks.

It’s the only thing he can get done in between investigations.
I don’t like the “remaking the courts” jargon. It’s REPAIRING the courts of their brokenness.
Trump’s version of the “Midnight Judges!”
Good point, it seemed to be okay to make the courts more liberal but not so much when remaking them balanced.
Wish he could replace all the left wing progressive judges in the Ninth Circus Court....
I love it! :^)
confirm judges. kill everything that comes out of the house. even mcconnell can do this.
no judge left behind
The Ninth Circuit District is far too large, covering the entire highly populated West Coast, Hawaii and Alaska, along with inland states of Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Arizona. It needs to be broken up and reapportioned.
Support Free Republic, Folks!
This is their last chance to do anything worthwhile this year. They’d better not flub it.
So while a part of the White House stands ready to respond to that CNN/Acosta-Tantrum lawsuit, another part continues a steady pile up of good constitutionally based judges. Nice!
Thanks, Mitch. You are no longer a tired old turtle.
“The Ninth Circuit District is far too large...”
29 judges, far more than any other circuit. You’re right, it should be broken up, but I’m not hearing anyone in Congress talking about it. I presume changing it would require the support of both the Senate and the House, so it seems unlikely that splitting it will happen anytime soon.
About time. Now there is no ‘election campaigning,’ excuse.
They need to retire or die (naturally), first. LOL
Truthfully, I don’t care which option they take.
The Democrat House is powerless to do a damn thing, even get Trump’s tax returns from anyone but New York state — a nothingburger. Trump and his folks can ignore every subpoena at will, and shield everyone with Exec Privilege, just as Obama did with Holder’s crimes.
By my count, they’ve confirmed 30 Circuit Court judges so far. That is slightly more than half way toward countering the 55 Circuit Court judges that were appointed by Obama.
There are currently 11 Circuit Court vacancies. No telling how many more will open up in the next two years but I anticipate that by the end of his first term, President Trump will have had at least 45 or so Circuit Court judges confirmed. That goes a long long way toward repairing the damage Obama did.
If President Trump had the chance to replace any of the Gang of Four on the SCOTUS in the next couple years, that would be huge. Even appointing a good strict constructionist for Justice Thomas would be extremely useful. If that were to happen, all the younger Justices would be Strict Constructionists while all the oldsters would be Leftists. We really need to get to 7-2 or better to secure our constitutional rights.
Just do it.
Remember, if any SCOTUS Justice retires of dies in 2020, the Senate will not consider a replacement until after the 2020 Election.
It happens in 2019 or the next POTUS picks a replacement.
Even Lindsey Graham has committed to that.
