Shocker: Bipartisan study finds U.S. military could LOSE war against Russia, China

Parity: A shocking new study from a bipartisan panel charged with analyzing the Trump administration’s National Defense Study actually concludes that U.S. military advantages may have eroded to a point where it could lose a war with Russia or China.

The Washington Post reports:

The National Defense Strategy Commission, comprised of former top Republican and Democratic officials selected by Congress, evaluated the Trump administration’s 2018 National Defense Strategy, which ordered a vast reshaping of the U.S. military to compete with Beijing and Moscow in an era of renewed great-power competition.

While endorsing the strategy’s aims, the commission warned that Washington isn’t moving fast enough or investing sufficiently to put the vision into practice, risking a further erosion of American military dominance that could become a national security emergency.

And the Dems and other Uniparty members will set up another round of parties at their Panem headquarters with only the finest consumables as they watch their handiwork continue the rot.

If you're talking “War” with a capital “W” there’d be no winners.A more limited war could be another story.

I know what this is. Remember a few days ago when Trump made the comment that he would never forgive what Obama did to the military. Trump said that he would talk about it more soon.

This is the Deep state getting in front of that. It is what they always do.

“Neither one has the capacity to come here and fight us, that’s for sure.”

They may not have to given the huge number of democrats.

Too late - the Dems now control the purse strings - mil will not get more funds but likely far less in their first defense bill.

Agree with everything you said except i think that Bush, posing with the Sauds shortly after 9/11, and deleting key parts of the report on 9/11 implicating the Sauds, and simply by virtue of saying bill clinton is his “brother from another mother” makes him a traitor.

Maybe the military on foreign soil but bring it here and there’d be nothing left of the Russians or Chinese.

I’ve been saying for a while here that China can now kick the crap out of the U.S. in an Asian war, and have pretty much gotten flamed for those comments. Right now China is focusing on projecting economic power to achieve its goals, but the big worry is that at some point it will just grab Taiwan and the U.S. will not respond.

A war with China would be fought with bags of money under the table. We might never know the war was fought and that we lost. It wouldn’t be in the newspapers.

“We have rotted from the inside out”

“It must be true, I read it on the internet”...….First, don’t believe everything you read and hear.

The U.S. has an excellent military but I must agree it was NOT TRUMP that created the problem that currently exists within. Since day one, Trump has been bolstering his praise for our military while attempting to increase their capabilities ALL of which keep getting stonewalled by the “Great Democrats” who resist him every step of the way. Lets be fair and put the blame where it belongs, squarely on the demodummies shoulders. Should the U.S. have to fight BOTH the Russians and the Chinese, it would be difficult but not insurmountable.

Trump is trying to fix it, he doesn't really seem to have the will to address the true problem -- and when he did try to address one facet, (the transgender issue), Mattis openly defied him. Trump is throwing money at the military so their equipment will be replaced, training will take place, ships and planes and tanks are kept operational, sure. But the PC rot that is truly at the root of the military weakening goes unaddressed. Trannies continue to be accepted, women are still being assigned to more and more combat units every day, gay weddings are taking place at the academy chapels, spineless generals continue to tout diversity over warfighting.

Don't see Trump or anyone fixing it, because it is a reflection of society at large rather than a problem with the military specifically.

It’s kind of pointless. The US national guard is bigger than the entire Russian ground forces. But the problem is morons who entertain the idea of a conventional war against a nuclear power like Russia or China.
Of course we could beat either in a straight out conventional war.

BUT, the moment you place either in an existential threat, such as invading into their territory, you will probably be nuked off the face of the earth.

The WWII nazi experience, Napoleon, WWI, etc is seared into the Russian mentality. They have it as an article of faith that those days of being invaded are over. They openly state that it is policy that anyone who ever invades them again will not do so without their homeland being wrecked just as badly.

Our smart think tank types and generals still keep playing the “we can bloody their nose conventionally and it won’t go nuclear” card.

As for China, they speak and all understand about a century of humiliation inflicted upon them from the opium wars forward. I don’t know if i would say they hate us, but China is finished with the idea of subservience to the west and isn’t shy about displeasing us.

Someday, someone, somewhere will miscalcalculate. We have grown used to people backing down. Those days won’t last forever.

President Trump has done more to bolster our military
than Obama ever thought of. If there is obstruction
it lays at the feet of the democrats.

Exactly. Judging by their actions, it wouldn’t surprise me if they weren’t all on the chicom payroll.

He may have been fixing it, but those days end when the current authorizations end and any nee funds will be Dem approved (far less).

Besides you go to war with what you have which is what the study assumes and the US has no counters for many of the new weapons developed by the Russians and Chinese; Russian arty out-ranges ours by 20 miles or more; we have nothing like the Russians TOS1A thermobaric rocket system; we have no counters yet for the new Russian anti-tank RPGs; and so on. Not to mention jamming at which the Russians excel.

As for the Chinese, they have what ever they bought of Russia’s latest weapons and a few home grown ones like their rail gun barge and their carrier killer missile - DF21. Not to mention we would be logistically at a huge disadvantage in any Chinese conflict.

...this comes first from the WP. That says a lot more.

From the article:

"Now that, that right there, that is pussy-footing language."

We cannot and should not EVER fight an Asian war with China. They are like the Napoleonic French, and we are the British of Trafalgar.

If we must fight China, we need to shut down the Middle East oil pipeline and devastate Chinese shipping. We don’t have to destroy her vast armies; rather, end her commerce and starve her vast hordes.

Victory is at Sea and in the Air.

No boots.
