Star Wars Hotel Plans Reveal Amazing New Details about the Guest Experience

Ever since the Star Wars Hotel was announced back at D23 Expo 2017, we’ve been salivating over any possible details we could get our hands on of the layout for the hotel and what will happen there. Now thanks to Californiacoasterkings.com, some new Star Wars Hotel plans were revealed showing amazing details about what the guest experience will be like. Let’s dive in:

First we’re going to look at the arrival portion of the Star Wars Hotel experience:

Of course the premise of the Star Wars Hotel is that you are boarding a starship in outer space for your journey and so when guests arrive, they most likely will be seeing the outside of a spaceport of some sort. What is the first thing you have to do when entering a spaceport before your flight? Go through security of course! Your bags will pass through the X-Ray machines, while you will go through metal detectors. Why is this necessary you might ask? Well once in the Star Wars Hotel, your trip to Galaxy’s Edge needs to be seamless without breaking the atmosphere and going through security in the park. That means it has to be taken care of ahead of time, and once you do, you’re set.

Once finished with security you will go through a room labeled “Pre-“. Now this will most likely be a pre-show of some kind, explaining the mission you are about to embark out on. I’m also wondering where the check-in to the Star Wars Hotel is, and this could be some kind of pre-check-in even. Once past here, the guests will be loaded into the “Elevator Load” and then the actual “Elevator” where they will launch into space and up to their future home on the starship. Here is a video Disney released a while back showing this sequence arriving on the spaceship:

Only question here is if it will actually bring you up a level, or more likely imo, simulate going up and then open up on the same floor you started on. Since these plans are only for the first floor of the Star Wars Hotel, I’m going to say that’s the case.

Once you get out of the elevator, you go through some more themed rooms (maybe it’s here you do your official check-in?) until you reach the “Main Concourse” where I can assume there will be plenty of windows giving you a look into the vast expanse of space and letting you know where you are! Once there you are going to find a table service restaurant (marked TSR), with a buffet. Since the Star Wars Hotel is being built more on the Disney Cruise Line model than the traditional Walt Disney World Resort Hotel model, this will probably be more similar to the former. Watch out Cabanas, you have company! We don’t know how many restaurants will be in the Star Wars Hotel, but I would think at least one more located on the second level. Probably something more upscale, and a nice lounge wouldn’t be bad either!

There are some other rooms mentioned in the plans like “Dojo,” “Brig”, and “Engineering Room.” No clue yet about what these are, but they could be used in the heavy storytelling aspect of the experience and places guests go on missions. They also could quite possibly hold entertainment venues, so we’ll have to see.

Next up is the Cabins:

This is where the guests will be sleeping of course, as we got a look some time ago at the concept art for the rooms from Disney:

These rooms will be highly immersive as was described in patents Disney filed for immersive multimedia for hotel rooms:

One the first floor we can count 32 standard-size cabins like in the concept art. Besides the standard cabins, there will also be 2 1st Class cabins which will be bigger, and with more amenities. You can can count on at least that many cabins on the second floor, but possibly more. That means at minimum there will be 68 rooms in the Star Wars Hotel, with probably no more than 100 fitting in there. This is quite a difference from normal Walt Disney World Resort Hotels and really emphasizes how the storytelling part will be so important and how this will be a much more intimate experience than you’ll find elsewhere.

Lastly is the Transport Area:

We’ve known for some time that the Star Wars Hotel will have seamless transportation to Galaxy’s Edge, and we’ve speculated on what that is going to be like in the past. Now after these plans, we see a bit more what that will be like. This area is marked: “Transport Hall” and it’s all the way to the southwest part of the hotel. While I was hoping for a more futuristic transportation method to Galaxy’s Edge, it looks like guests will get there by some kind of bus system. There will be some kind of bridge to pass through first, but I’m wondering just how they will keep it to the story you’re in. I though some kind of covered, futuristic tunnel would have been a cooler idea, but we’ll have to see what develops.

So that’s the newest info on the Star Wars Hotel after taking a long, hard look at these plans.

Disney still hasn’t given a word on when the Star Wars Hotel will open, but it could even be finished in-time for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World in 2021. Of course lots of testing is going to have to happen first, and oh yeah, they actually need to get Galaxy’s Edge up and running first!

Looks like a lot of fun. I wonder how many new brides will be up for a Star Wars honeymoon? :p

Like the weddings where they say their vows in Klingon already aren’t bad enough.

Unless it is DVC, it will be too expensive for us.

Wouldn’t stop us from visiting.

"I wonder how many new brides will be up for a Star Wars honeymoon?"

I suppose it depends on how well the groom handles his light saber.

I’m sure it features “out of this world” prices as well.

I was 15 years old when Star Wars came out in 1977 and I have yet to see that movie. I'm actually afraid to watch it now, seeing how so many are obsessed over it.

One of my favorite TV shows was the Sopranos. But I never had the urge to vacation at a hotel in New Jersey. Not even if the hotel featured a Bada-Bing and an Italian restaurant featuring Artie Bucco as chef.

The hotel’s downfall will occur when it just quits trying to be good for fear of throwing the universe out of balance.

I was much older, the first 2 that came out were OK, but in the 3rd, when they introduced the mini-wookies (or whatever they actually were called), they began to lose me.

That became final when Jar-Jar Binks appeared on the screen. I turned off that movie, never finished it, and never watched another.

Hilarious. I guess I’m the wet blanket at the party but it sounds like a journey into hell. Starting with the security you have to go through to enter and then the parents are trapped in the immersive experience. I like science and science fiction but I also like stepping out into reality for a while. Plus modern stuff at Disney is likely to be very tacky. I love the article speculating on what the Brig might be for. Other than that it sounds great.

I like to collect Christmas music and I've got some really unusual ones. One of them was titled "What Can You Get A Wookie For Christmas (When He Already Has A Comb)?" by the Star Wars Intergalactic Droid Choir.

It's a rarity. But over the years, I've come to like the song. Also, many years later, I discovered that one of the vocalists in the song was a very young Jon Bon Jovi.
