If we had good public schools, instead of indoctrination day camps, I wouldn’t mind. Without public school, only the wealthy would get educated, except for the Abe Lincoln type person. But I do resent paying for leftist indoctrination. I had a relative who resented paying school taxes, at all, because her one child was raised already, so “why should I pay for schools I don’t use?”, which would, of course, make education unavailable for most people.
And many of the other students also see the wrong in this.
Except for an indoctrinated group. Good old job mentality.

The story takes place in an unnamed school classroom in the United States, in the aftermath of a war between the US and an unnamed country. It is implied that America has been defeated and occupied. The story opens with the previous teacher leaving the classroom, having been removed from her position and replaced with an agent of the foreign power. The new teacher has been trained in propaganda techniques, and is responsible for re-educating the children to be supportive of their occupiers. During the course of the story, the children are persuaded to abandon their religion and national loyalty. Framing the story is the fact that, while the children have ritually recited a ‘Pledge of Allegiance’ every morning, none know what it actually means. The teacher is relentlessly positive about the change, offering the children candy, songs and praise. When asked if the war was won or lost, she responds only that “we won,” implying that everyone would benefit from the conquest.[2]
Only one student is initially hostile to the new teacher, a child named Johnny, whose father had been arrested and placed in a re-education camp. At first, he defends his father, but when he is rewarded by the teacher with a position of authority in the class, he quickly accepts the new regime and commits himself to not accepting “wrong thoughts.” The story takes place over a twenty-five-minute span.
The short story was adapted in 1982 as an installment in the anthology TV series Mobil Showcase.[5] Clavell’s daughter (the above-referenced Michaela, known professionally as Michaela Ross during her brief acting career) played a seemingly pleasant young teacher sent to indoctrinate a classroom of American children. She replaces an old teacher (Mildred Dunnock in her penultimate performance), who disappears after the students witness her crying.

I’m the same way. Once I set a foot inside, hat comes off and within two steps of going outside hat goes back on.
That is unless I’m armed, then I keep my hat on at all times.
If the rule is no hats in school then enforce it and have him remove it and make no reference to what is on the hat. It’s a stupid rule but don’t make a rule unless you intend to enforce it.
I work in post-secondary education and I can assure you leftist are in total control of the classroom and indoctrinate at will. You have a choice, regergitate the leftist BS to them and pass or challenge their non-sense. You will be ridiculed, harassed and eventually told to shut up if you want to remain a student and you will fail if you do remain. There is no open expression of ideals and debate anymore.
If I were the students parents I would be all over this with the principal, teacher, superintendent and school board. How does this commissar get away with calling a student an Ahole in and during class? Teachers yammer and wail they want to be treated as “professionals” yet act like union thugs to anyone who dares question their love for the children.
My guess would be that there is not a ‘No hat’ rule and that is why the teacher was reluctant to apply it. I am however pretty certain there is a ‘Don’t call people assholes’ rule that applies to everyone on the campus and which the teacher seems to have fallen afoul of.
The kid was being a kid unfortunately so was the teacher. If there was a school rule against hats which I doubt because it would then cover hijabs too then the teacher should just have tossed him out of the classroom. No long argument necessary, but obviously the teacher wanted to discredit the politics represented by the hat as well as to assert his control over the student. One thing to learn here is that you should bever hire a teacher who spent their own HS years with their undershorts pulled so far up their backsides that they could wear them as a hat. This guy sounds like the swish he probably is.
