(Vanity) Rush contemplates dumping the term "conservative"
Rush Limbaugh | 11/29/18 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 11/29/2018 10:54:03 AM PST by JonPreston

Rush is rightly disgusted at today's Mueller's news. SO disgusted in fact that after a caller prompted him he agreed that the word "conservative" is so useless and damaged that a "rebranding" might be a good idea.

I couldn't agree more.

“Common Sense Party.”

Love it. That or the American Party.

And we could add Paul Gottfried and Clyde Wilson to that list.

Great memories, thx. They have been proven right regarding neocons. They had these rats nailed.

The gun control people have already established the term "common sense" as having the opposite of its dictionary meaning.

Words change their meaning all the time. There are words in Shakespeare and the King James Bible that are very different from how they were used at the time they were written.

I think he needs even more caffeine; someone needs to wake Rush up. He’s been asleep at the switch for the past 2yrs.

“I think he needs even more caffeine”

Well not ‘Gino from the Bronx’, if you gave him more caffeine his head would explode.

I agree. Conservative is damaged. No different than a bad manager running a business into the ground and the guy that buys it renames it to get back business.

“Compassionate Conservatism” is a good starting point for the trashing of the brand.

Note to Limbaugh: Liberals solve problems, too. Though it’s by creating worse ones.

I’m a conservative, not gutless. So I’ll damn well continue to use the word conservative.

Rush spoke with a woman about the phrase “problem solver” instead of the word/brand “conservative”. That the left has successfully rebranded conservative to mean bigot, racist, etc..

I’m OK with it so long as we rebrand liberal/progressives as problem CREATORS. I can think of Detroit, University, Health Insurance, National Debt, Hollywood, Social Media, Racism, Open Borders, Homosexual Agenda, and more.

Disagree. It's like giving up the rainbow to the homosexualists. We are conservatives, Constitutional Conservatives. That's admirable. Instead, give up the label "republican" which is just a label and no longer represents conservative ideals these days.

I’m drinking a Starbuck’s Doubleshot (Vanilla Bean) Energy Drink right now, after finishing 2 carafes of Jamaican Blue Mtn coffee, and I’m way beyond fed up with Rush’s ongoing *surrender* attitude.

The Conservative Base is disheartened and disillusioned with all this “collusion” and “fraud” crap being allowed to endlessly play on for 2yrs.

We know what their endgame is: discredit Trump, turn his associates and defenders into criminals, impeach him (revenge for BJ Klintoon), and block him in the 2020 General Election.

We did a lousy job in 2018 elections, getting our people in. If we lose it in 2020, America - as we grew-up in and love it - is gone. There’ll always be an “America”, but it won’t be The America our fathers and grandfathers fought and died for.

So true, thank you GWB (not)

If “conservative” has no clear definition then “male” or “female” have no clear definition then constitutional law has no clear definition then the rights of whites have no clear definition. Hello Buchenwald.

This is the path we’re on by accepting distorted semantics.

No, people change the meaning of words when it suits them in their assertion of dominance which is the origin of unreasonable, pointless arguments and the kind of distorted law that led to Geman and Russian death camps. This kind of alteration of reality through word distortion leads eventually to the kind of deluded mind that can justify anything like the shooting up of a school, abortion, homosexuality, even genocide.

Men stand fast. Men stand firm. Conserve the original definition of words. Conserve the original meaning of law. Conserve your family. Conserve our culture. Stand, Men of the West.

Spot on. The left will only see the name change as surrender, and become emboldened to trash any new term that we may wish to pick.

Words change meaning over time because people change how they use them. Any American who has used teenage slang knows this firsthand.

“If “conservative” has no clear definition then “male” or “female” have no clear definition then constitutional law has no clear definition then the rights of whites have no clear definition. Hello Buchenwald.”

That is worthy of being a textbook illustration of “the Fallacy of the Beard”.

I’m just curious to know if you’ve ever looked at a copy of the Oxford English Dictionary and noticed that they give you an etymology of each word before they give you its current definition.

What can’t be denied, for me at least, is that the word conservative is seriously damaged.

The word is not the problem, its the host of liberal/progressives who have infiltrated the GOP. You provide a good list of some of the usurpers.

Liberals lack credibility and they know it. That is why the NYT and Washington Post and others all employ fake conservatives.

Changing the name will do nothing, the posers with just claim the new mantle and continue to undermine from within.

The problem is with the GOP and its inability to screen out the fakes. The bigger problem is that the leadership in the GOP is made up largely of fakes.

We don't need to get rid of the word conservative we need to get rid of the GOP and their inbred swine leadership.
