The Riots In France Aren’t Just About Gas Taxes, But About The West’s Decline
The Federalist ^ | December 7, 2018 | Auguste Meyrat

Posted on 12/07/2018 1:18:32 PM PST by detective

This past week, Parisians in yellow safety vests took to the streets to riot against French leadership. They have defaced the Arc de Triomphe, thrown rocks at policemen and soldiers, and lit fires all over the city. Macron literally had egg on his face and continues to suffer abysmal approval ratings, while the current protests enjoy high approval ratings in the country, despite the destruction.

Most commentary (which happened all over France, not just Paris) has focused on the fuel tax increase as the main reason for the protests, as though the French have never paid exorbitant taxes before. It has also characterized the yellow vest protests as a recent event, but they had been going on for weeks before they became violent these past few days.

Macron and the French media have unsurprisingly tried to pin the protests and riots on Marine Le Pen’s racist minions without evidence, while residents in France have claimed that the protesters are mostly middle-aged Frenchmen with no political affiliation.

Anyone who tries to pull their own roof down over their head is a fool IMO regardless of how cleverly they have couched their words.

“tiny expensive old apartments that are falling apart”

I think you have found the key.

A lot of Europe has residential issues as repairs had to take a back seat to taxes.

In many cases, this can be shocking.

The typical kitchen was renovated, somewhat, sometime after 1945.

You are right. And when you look more closely, there is little secret about the long term intent. It is to deliberately undermine the qualities that make any nation unique.

I’ve visited France 5 times in my life. The most recent was 3 years ago.

As you stated, apartments (or le lofts’) start at $2000, and those are NOT in the “no go zones”. Just asked around the Champs within 5 mile radius out of curiosity. The bellboy PLEADED not to hang around the DSLR camera around the neck or it WILL be stolen. I guess he helped us because of the large tip we gave him.

Macron is a moron. His idiocy on Nationalism vs Patriotism while trashing the American President hopefully will be his beheading.

Speaking of gas..how hard would it be to drench all that with a can of gas and torch it?

France has been sold out by its ruling elite. Not to just any immigrant group. Almost any immigrants could have worked their way peacefully into French society except the one hostile and aggressive, viciously anti_Christian group that’s taking over France now. The religion of piece. First they take this piece of your country, then the rest of it.

I like how “House Hunters - International” has Americans who go abroad to pay $1,700-$2,500 for an apartment or rent a house and they “hope to get a job” while they’re there.

Of course, they most usually want to be near the bars and the night life.

Guess it’s all fun as long as the money lasts.

Typically if you rent an apartment in Europe it comes unfurnished.

Meaning you have to supply your own fridge, stove/oven etc. in addition to furniture.

The apartment is essentially a shell
