Born in an obscure village. A Child of a peasant woman.
He grew up in another village where He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty.
And for three years, He was an itinerant preacher.
He never owned a home. Never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never really had a family of His own. Never went to college. Never set foot in a big city. He never traveled 200 miles from the place He was born. He never did things that usually accompany greatness. He had no credentials but Himself.
While still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against him.
His friends ran away.
Even one of His best friends denied Him.
He was turned over to His enemies.
He went through the mockery of a trial.
He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves.
While He was dying, His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on this earth and that was His coat.
And when he was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.
Nineteen long centuries have come and gone and today He is still the centerpiece of the human race, and leader of the column of progress.
Im far within the mark when I say that .....all the armies that were ever marched,..... all the navies that were ever built, .....all the parliaments that ever sat, ......and all the kings that ever reigned, all put together....... have not affected the lives on this Earth as powerfully as has that ONE SOLITARY LIFE.
The only man in history I’ll bend my knee to.
Hallelujah to the Lamb of God.
Thanks for the wonderful and short history of the man still impacting our lives if we just listen to what he said.
When he was a baby, He was very rich.
He had a lot of gold.
His parents immediately became wealthy overnight.
Matthew 2:11. Opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
This Jesus was poor doesn`t jive with the narratives of the Apostles at all. -
Who keeps saying Jesuswas a poor carpenter when he was born right into gold?
This is where the saying “from rags to riches’ originates.
What happened to the gold? Did the parents spend it all or invest it or what?
Tell us please.
Properly Translated from old text carpenter means “ handyman or worked with his handsome” Jesus probably didnt make furniture, instead he probably repaired roofs and walls and did odd jobs. So please stop with the “Jesus worked in a carpenter shop”.
Beautiful post, Liz. Many thanks.
He came to die on a cross of wood, yet made the the hill on which it stood.
MARANATHA!
I keep reading things about how different people & groups are trying to remove Christ from Christmas, but without Him, there really is no Christmas.
Joseph used it to bribe the border guards to look the other way so as to not report them to Herod, which would have resulted in Mary and Joseph's immediate arrest and the infant's execution.
Joseph used the rest to pawn in exchange for carpentry tools so that the family could survive in Egypt among the Diaspora Jews in Alexandria for the two years until Herod died.
What is the primary source for that information? I have never seen any Latin nor Greek NT nor Coptic sources nor pseudoepi for that -
Is it a local tradition source? If so, please furnish citations,. thanks.
It could very well be that the gold and other valuables they brought was enough for to finance the wise mens trip. Kind of like opening up your travel wallet and giving half to someone you love. No need to assume it was enough to make one wealthy.
It may have been enough to get Jesus to Egypt where the statement that God called His son out of Egypt (both Israel and His only begotten son)would be finally completely accomplished.
Amen
I know this isn't what you meant but you can listen to Johnny Cash and others recite this; it's very impressive.
Appears to be assumptions. ANY records anywhere? Gnostic gospels? Appears to be pure conjecture. Besides, they brought Him a CHEST full of gold. That`s a lot of cash.
“and opening their treasure-chests offered gifts to Him—gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” Mt. 2:11
Whatever works for us/you/me to “listen to what Christ said over 2000 years ago!”.
